..." The original body was crashed so they used a spare body and switched all over. " ...

I think they call it a 're-shell' on that side of the 'pond'

More new records being set for Tiger sales. World record Alger sale soon to come. Lee

I know in the Shelby world a re-body is worth about 25-50% less than an original bodied car. Still a nice looking car.....

Same as listed

It is very nice car, and maybe it had 150,000 poured into it.

Is interesting that it is listed in Dorset England in 2012.

I bet that some of us myself included just use the New Posts tab. Typically an ad waiting approval can get skipped over as the system logs post as of the time submitted and not approved. If you only check every few days it'll work fine if not you will miss stuff and we end up with double postings.

Yes, that's the UK car - my friend convert it back to LHD and did some other things at the car. Now its a nice car. The original engine comes with the car.
The colour is not 86 but looks great. The front eyebrow is also not the right one but the new owner will get a new repro one - when they are ready.

Theseus' paradox all over again . . . . .OR, Trigger's broom.

The car was done very nicely and I am sure shows well. If someone really wanted a MkII this would be a good car to buy and enjoy for much cheaper than the prices have ben lately. We'll see where this goes.......

Reshell = Alger?

Based on the description, it doesn't sound like it's a Mk II, but an Alger wearing Mk II trim and tags. That certainly makes it worth more than an Alger wearing Mk 1 or 1A, but not as much as a true Mk II. I wonder if the original Mk II steering rack was used when it was converted back to LHD. That would certainly increase its value as parts.

MK2 rack?

Dave, is there a difference? I have seen some racks with date code on them . My MK1A had a date code 2 66 on it. I think that a RHD rack is big bucks compared to a LHD.

I wonder how the re shelling verbage came up in U.K. speak. I picture carnival like shell game.

Warren,

Yes, there is a major difference between the Mk 1/1A racks and the Mk II racks. The main difference is that the 1/1A racks have two bulges (one where the shaft from the end of the steering column comes in) and one on the opposite side (for the RHD cars, perhaps?). The Mk II has only the one bulge, on the lefthand side. I don't know what Rootes did for the police Mk IIs and whatever other Mk IIs were sold in the Old Country, but I am guessing they used the Mk 1/1A racks.

I don't know what are the differences between a LHD and an RHD racks - if they can simply swap the internals around and use the RHD bulge or not. I'll bet that someone out there has tried to convert an LHD to an RHD (or vice versa).

They are disclosing the rebody which us honest.. But they still imply its a legit car... But its not like they used another tiger or mkii ... Its an alpine SV in mkii pijymas .... Nice car . . not a tiger .. Not mkii... Not 150k

"my grandfather's axe".

I bought this car in the 80's . If I recall correctly it came from New York USA. It was Lhd and had not been in any car crash. It was a total rust job and at that time no one would have restored it .. not so today!.
This was one of the very last MK11 Tigers , one of 5 MK11's produced on the 27th of June 1967.. The final day of production. I sold it "as seen" in the picture that follows...
I retained some parts and I will be building my own version accordingly... at least they are Original..Lol..
Regards.. David.

Ah! It’s that one! I did wonder when I saw the advert, but the fact it is now LHD (again) threw me. I remember the advert in the UK well as the irony amused me.

“ One of the last five Tigers down the production line” and yet in the same ad “Re-shelled with S5 Alpine body” Err… So it never went down the Jenson line at all then did it?

As has been said though, a gorgeous looking car that no doubt goes & handles as well as any Jenson produced Tiger and more importantly the buyer will know what they’re getting.

The Tiger board in England had a complete meltdown when the subject of re-shelling cars and if was still a Tiger when this was done. Many feelings got hurt.

Then there is the TAC haters over there, goes back to the re-shelling issue.

My $.02, if it can't be verified with TAC, it’s not a original Tiger.....period.

$150K is absolutely laughable.
