We finally starting the project of making a copy of MKII water bottle holder , we have in our hand an original one. We have made the MkII slave cylinder bracket and every seem happy , Just send me me a note to see how many we should made , I am a retiree and we are doing it for fun , ( Me and my friend are missing the holder in our car and I have the bottle ) . Board will be advise when available .

I don't need one as I haven't a MK2 but nice one you and your friend Gilles for doing this. :)

Its more tricky the we tought originally , oval hole on the side instead of round hole for the bolts , also this bracket was not spot welded but use another method of assembly. 2 oval hole on the side will be lazer cut , also the big nut was welded to ease the installation on the car . Picture supplied my member.
We have in our hand and original one untouch . Even the bolts and nuts are original . !!!!!

Will let you know our progress !!!!!

That bottle holder is going to look pretty naked in the engine compartment without a bottle in it.
Do we have any leads on replacement MKII bottles?

This MKII bottle must have been also installed in other british car ! Any IDEA ???
Very expensive to make few hundred of them . Also Some rumors was that at the beginning of the MKII run the left over MKIA bottle and bottle holder was installed . Can anyone confirm ????

Thanks

MKII Water Bottle

I think there should be no reason why a middle of the run MKII should have a MKIA bottle .When the beginning of the run has a MKII bottle and a MKII Holder see attached picture supplied by a member of what it should be .
MKII Bottle should be tight in the holder .

MKIA MKII Water bottle Holder

For those who have a MKII water bottle holder with no bottle or a MKIA bottle which his loose in the holder , since are making a copy of the MKII Holder , we are thinking of making a couple of MKII holder wich will accomodate a MKIA Bottle , wich I think his better than nothing .

Let me know what you think .

Gilles, You must be the expert. On page 142 of "The book of Norman" You can educate yourself and see how he says "The last 300 or so 66 Mk1's the embossing was dropped and replaced with a simple blue silk screened TUDOR Logo, This second bottle was continued approximately half way into the MK II production and then replaced with a similar bottle of larger diameter"

Someone could have changed the one in my car but I tend to believe the book rather than your Detective work. LOL!

MKII Bottle

The book was written many years ago . Many things had surface since then . In
doubt I always talked to the expert , the Guy who wrote the book ,He told me this Sunday that If he ever wrote a second edition , that's one of the thing that will be corrected . According to him all MKII came with the MKII Bottle .

holder

331MK2,
the washer bottle with the Rootes logo was also used in the Alpine thru series 4 which was also the basis of MK 1 tigers. with the introduction of the series 5 Alpine ( MK I A basis) Chrysler dropped the bottle and switched to a grey vinyl bag with the Tudor logo. this was hung on a mount on the left inner fender between the radiator and the inner fender brace. that meant that the supply of Rootes bottles was gone since they were no longer being used in the production of the much greater number of alpines. it sounds like Chrysler had to go to Tudor and buy a bottle that was used on another car of the era. the mount on the inner fender of the tiger for the washer bottle appears to be the mounting for the alpine brake booster strap and with the tiger's limited amount of available space under the hood and the limited tiger production Chrysler had to use what Tudor already made and had in stock in order for the tiger to have a washer bottle. the heat from the tiger exhaust would probably have caused the bag to melt if used in the tiger.
