I've been following the redesign for a while, at least in the future the Petersen Museum won't be mistaken for a Self Storage building anymore.

I wonder about this line:

"cars with Hollywood heritage and even vehicles designed and built in Los Angeles itself."

They will have lots of movie cars to choose from but I wonder how many interesting production cars originated out of Los Angeles. This might be a chance for the Petersen to show something other than the cobra.

Some day I'll go back; but, alas, when I went in IIRC 1997, I had along my first digital camera and when I got home none of the photos I took at Petersen came out -- and I doubt I'll ever see a Pegaso again.:(

I think I would be so distracted by the building I wouldn't be able to concentrate while looking at the cars.

I go every 3 years or so--nice place. I wonder how many accidents will happen outside with people gawking at the bldg.?

Having KPF do a design for the project is a pretty serious undertaking. The scale and level of design is very ambitious, i would put that on par with the factory efforts by both Mercedes and Porsche with their UN studio and Delugan Meissl designed buildings... must have some decent funding.

Monthly events

The have a breakfast meeting as well as a monthly gig. I went to look at their schedule and the dramatic music video loaded below.

I most often check http://www.socalcarculture.com/events.html when thinking on going for a car related cruise.

http://www.socalcarculture.com/Images/CruiseNight_Sunday_PetersenMuseum.pdf Breakfast Link would like to go with other Tiger guys sometime!

They have a lowrider thing coming up, maybe some dingle balls would look cool on the Tiger...

The Mrs. has some of those doggies that go in the back window too with the bobble head,

I hope we can do a meeting there concurrent with one of their events.

The outside of the building is not of much import as far as I'm concerned. That shot of the inside design is awful. The lines and design and reflections from the cars finish are the whole purpose of the museum, anything that detracts from that or confuses the viewer is shameful. What's next a neon and mirror ball frame around the Mona Lisa ?
