Peter Procter 1930 -2024
Peter Procter the last surviving driver of the Le Mans Tigers at the 1964 24Hours. died yesterday age 94.
He was a champion racer of bicycles and cars for almost 80 years. The co-driver of the LM No.9 Tiger at Le Mans with Claude Dubois, he with Peter Harper and Rosemary Smith are true heroes of the Sunbeam marque.
An ex-President of STOC, Peter and wife Shirley managed to join the Tiger Club at the end of June for the UK’s first showing of the (unfinished) Tiger film, in which he widely features. He gave a rousing speech at dinner about the Le Mans effort.
A true gentleman and the last of the greats in the history of the Sunbeam Tiger.
