This category is very busy. Would be nice if all of the posts regarding cars for sale be it ebay, craigslist, BaT, etc. are started there for discussion.

I thought that the 'cars for sale/parts for sale' threads were mainly for people selling their OWN parts... This category is 'general' and I don't see an issue with posting cars for sale that members happen upon... it's just a 'heads up' to what's out there and I believe that most threads are titled appropriately enough that if that's not what you want to read, you can figure it out before bothering to click on the thread.
Of course, that's just my 2 cents... so I'll let you 'duke' it out with the moderator  :D

I've tried to post interesting cars FS via the marketplace on at least 2 occasions. I recall a delay to post and possibly a non-post.

This has to do with mod approval to confirm membership, I would believe.

The general forum post therefore becomes an end around.

Similar to parts, etc... if someone needs to strike quick, the marketplace may prevent them from doing so quickly enough.

Advised

I was advised to start a new thread for every car in General Tiger Discussion.

I think its a waste of space to only post links without grabbing a picture and facts.
eBay listings and Craigslist ads have short shelf life.
A good benchmark of alleged sales asking prices and tracking on cars just seems like a good idea.

Posting what I find, is not for a little number by my name showing my no.of posts but to be a good steward of the hobby.

I spam my buddies if they are within striking distance of a good buy and I am not.

I started a "Craigslist finds Posting" but it it passed on as guys would rather start their own,
It seemed to be a good idea as Alpine site has a dedicated category.
Doesn't the cars for sale default to moderator for approval?
Posting in cars for sale would waste time to scoop up a possible gem.

Admin speak

As the chief A H of the forum here I prefer that links to Craigs and EBay etc found on the www be posted in GD. Encourage it in fact.

Yes the Marketplace is for 4sale and wanted. It is also Members of CAT only. A thread in Marketplace can only be started by the owner of item for sale.

The posts of links to ads in GD have been popular and have a relatively short life. The postings fall off after sales. At the same time the posts are interesting and of great value to newbies looking for a Tiger. New users can pick up an understanding of the major issues that make a Tiger a real deal, a fake or a money pit. Thanks Warren and others who search these out and make timely postings of sales they are not affiliated with.

I thought A H stood for Administrator Hierarchy;)

One of the other forums I frequent has a Subforum called

"Stuff seen on the web"

That is where all the ebay ads for cars and parts are posted.

"Stuff seen on the web"

Good suggestion. We may go that way too? Sunbeam Stuff WWW?

my vote

I think Erich's suggestion of creating a 'stuff seen on the web' category would solve it.

Like Duke said it is a lot of stuff and needs it's own corner of the forum.

I like the fact that Norm and Warren and others post cars for sale. It's valuable seeing the different cars and what they trade for.

If I was in the market for a car I'd love to follow some of the recent stories of cars getting flipped multiple times in a short period of time.

Two Cents

I also enjoy the posts showing various Tigers for sale. If it's more efficient to create a special section, that's a great idea.
