I have a question for all the Tiger experts out there. My MK1A ( last four of vin is 1422) probable born on date around Feb of 1966 has the small, more rectangular mirror instead of the longer more oval mirror. Which one is correct? I see that the thread in my Tigers Story "382001359, new project" also has the small rectangular mirror and it is also a MK1A. I thought the MK1's had the small mirror and the 1A's had the oval. Maybe not..... any clarification on this? Not a big deal, but I'm attempting get the car as close to stock as possible. Thanks ahead of time.

Rectangle is early

SS sells a nice day night one that is correct in shape and size and has the day night flip feature

You are correct in that the mkia had the larger oval mirror with the stabiliser that touches the screen. The early small convex mirrors were alpine s3-iv and mki tiger. As a side note si/ii alpines used the same head but the stalk is slightly different in that it's flat at the mounting face as it did not clip over the screen frame or visor mounts.

Thanks Warren and Michael. This clarifies whether I should change out the mirror or not. As I said earlier, probably not a big issue but I'm trying to get my car as close to stock as is reasonably possible.
