Remote Oil Lines

All,

I am rebuilding my first engine at home and am putting it together in the stock configuration, with a few interior/exterior Tiger mods. I am planning on installing the stock remote oil setup. I have the end connectors but do not know the lengths to have the hoses built by a hydraulic shop. I checked with Sunbeam Specialties and the hoses are not available. Also I looked thru the threads and CAT Notes to see if this topic has come before and did not find it in my search.

Does someone know the lengths of the hoses req'd for both long and short sections?

Regards,

Now might be the time to think about relocating it for ease of oil changes and to clean up the engine compartment. Just a thought.

Thought CAT warehouse may have also?

Continuing on your theme.

I have the lines, but they're old / original... Should I not use? How to tell when to replace if not frayed?

Eliminating the remote oil filter was the first thing I changed on my '66.

My MKII has the oil cooler so I'm stuck with hoses now.

options

IF using headers, even the new ones, it seems the shorty filters do not always fit.

So, what are the other options?

I've seen:
- wheel well remote location
- shorty
- 90 deg angle adapter (econoline)

I'd kind of like to have the filter be on a mount horizontally located and reachable from underneath

Derek--if they are original and you even have a slight concern over the lines I would replace them. Better to be safe than sorry. Any race/hot rod shop near you should be able to reproduce them.

I too just went through the replacing of the oil lines. Decades ago, I re-routed my stock lines to an adapter in the fenderwell above the suspension. My Mk-2 is a bit different because of the cooler but I was able to just re-route the "stock" lines. After all this time, my hoses looked poor, so I took them all to a big Hose manufacturer, here in my area. You must have a similar place where you live. They made all new hoses with new fittings at a cost of $150.

Here is the place I used...
