I am the guy that decided to help the club get a discounted real glass hardtop rear and side glass. I did this to help others interested in getting this nice feature on their tigers. I paid the same price as everyone else for the glass I got for my hardtop. You do good deeds because they are the right thing to do.

My Tiger, bought 4 years ago was complete less air cleaner. I have spent the last 3 years trying to find a reasonable priced one for my car. They are drilled, dented, letters not sharp enough or too expensive. Look at the one on your car and you will find yours is not perfect either. I have seen them as high as 1,700!!!! The chrome ebay $900 air cleaner top has dents. So, yes there is a complete reproduction air cleaner project underway. It will be made in the USA and as close as possible to the original. So how do you do this type of project. You start by knowing a major reproduction parts friend for 35 years and you keep telling him it is a viable project. You have to convince him that with 3,000 cars left in the world there is a market for a few hundred air cleaners and the investment necessary to do the project. Professionally manufactured to spec and license rights to include all markings on the part.

The proof will be produced soon and once approved they will come in a box ready to ship. I tried to get them chromed but it was not possible. I figured if they all came chrome those that wanted to paint them could. Stay tuned for more. There are a couple other good guys helping me with this project because I couldn't put up all the cash to make this happen. If you send me a PM that you may want one if priced right and done right it will help make me feel good about this effort. Lee

Reproduction air cleaner project from Lee

I am interested in the repo air cleaner. Thank you for your efforts on this project. Bill

I am very curious to see how these turn out as mine has a hole in the top.....actually 2--one for the screw and one for some unknown reason.

The other hole is for the carb vent. My first tiger had the same hole. Instead of cutting down the vent when air cleaners were not like gold you just drilled a hole in the air cleaner. Lee

Thanks for your PM and interest in the project. The fact that already 10 can be sold is encouraging. You don't need to PM me anymore. It will be a few months before the proof is approved and production. Lee

Loose screw etc.

Bruce it's for your loose screw:) I'd bet back in the day of the NOX device that had to be added by law made guys drill holes in air cleaners.

Did you see the repaired 3/8s holed one sell for 700 plus on ebay?

I would say there is enough interest in any product be it CNC or stamped steel. You do not have to Gin up the crowd at all.

Lee and I know each other from the CT90 Honda Yahoo group and his Epic Fix in for those vintage klunkers he puts on yearly at his old home in Moreno Valley.
Lee had asked me to source a air cleaner for a model and I got him one to send to the MFG. As the project progressed I brought it up to the club and it was turned down as it was not shovel ready.

If you look back in the old forum threads here and other places it is easy to understand that lots and lots of guys have proposed, calculated and dreamed of this undertaking. I am glad that Lee ,Tim and our other CNC programmer 289Tiger? are going for it. I thought it best to be up front and share the back story on this.

Whether it be air cleaners or MkII grilles--I think the more available the parts maybe more Tigers will get repaired and driven. I think in the long run we would all like to see more of these cars on the road and at events. :)

He has one area goobered up like mine--except that he tried to fix his before chroming. Curious how much less a chrome one goes for.

LAT 2 $69.00

Back in the day when the Rootes Dealerships sold LAT options the "Engine Dress Up Kit" included a Chrome plated air cleaner top plate.

Aluminum Valve Covers Lettered Powered by Ford
Chrome A C Top
Chrome Oil Filter Cap
Chrome Radiator Cap
Chrome Dip Stick

We have 3 of 5 on Black Tiger $41.40 originally if original.

Ho yes

or is it Ho no?, you talking about your ho ho holy one I'll give you 20 bucks for it.......)))))

Really Duke,

If you read his earlier posts I believe Tim has said there is member pricing.
Evil Bay gets a combined Paypal and final value fees even on shipping costs that totals about 15%

I have found Tim to be a good guy from my phone contact. I see Tim as merely a capitalist looking to recoup his time and efforts.

The other steel repop will be marketed on eBay as well with most likely a higher price then CAT member pricing so don't be surprised when you see the steel one. We had a open discussion at the fix in and that pricing was discussed. Be nice, I know it must be tough going thru withdrawals from not being able to tear up the town in your Tiger.

And the funniest part of all this investment and time is that my new Tiger has a perfect original air cleaner. The original motivation to begin the stamped steel original air cleaner project was not having an air cleaner for my car (now sold to Joe) who needs an air cleaner for his new car (a new customer for the reproduction air cleaner). We are now guaranteed one sale! Lee
