RM hasn't posted results... yet

I have pics of that car at another RM auction... Amelia Island March 2015 ... when I go to their past auction results, that car doesn't show even though it was a 'no reserve' auction :O I don't know where I found the info but I have a note in my files on that car that it sold ( then ) for US$140k + premium so US$154k from the buyer! Only Tiger they list at that 2015 auction was what we've come to call the 'crooked trim' car that went for big $$$ WELL sold @ US$137,500 !!

Warren... only site I've ever had to log into for results was Mecum... oops.. apparently BJ also
BTW, I couldn't turn down free membership for a year...

RM grey. Pretty. $123.5k hammer

I made it there too late to grab pictures Very early Ford Demo cobra was nice as was the bmw 507. Lots of RR and zero mileage newer year Porsches were the headliners at RM. I’m really enjoying Russo and Steele more and more. Plenty of cars not quite the zoo as BJ is. Did not see locate Tiger there. My fault.

Photo from 2011 Tigers United at the Queen Mary

Here is a photo taken of the Balmoral Gray Tiger at the 2011 Tigers United in Long Beach, at the Queen Mary. My wife fell in love with the color of the car and the baby blue interior. (OK, I know that is not the official Rootes Group designation for that color blue.) I believe the folks standing around were the judges for the Concours.

RM Auction result

The Grey Tiger at RM sold for $123,200 inclusive of buyers fees. So hammer price would have been about $110,880. Very nice car. As usual below their estimated sale price. Nearly all of the vehicles with No Reserve sold for well under their estimated price range. At least the Tiger got close to their estimate which was $130,000 - $160,000. There was a No Reserve car that sold for 1 million dollars less then their estimate. That had to hurt! IMHO never use RM Auctions.

Hagerty

Saw this in the Hagerty email newsletter talking about collector car prices. They say the Tiger is in the bottom 25 list now. :O

"The Sunbeam Tiger has also dropped way down on our list. The Ford small-block-powered British roadster might have been seen as a much less expensive entry point than the Shelby Cobra, but interest has tanked dramatically. Hagerty has one in its collection and it’s far from perfect. Newton feels that buyers may have caught on that Tigers are overvalued."

Gee, thanks Hagerty
