Hello everyone, I've had my 1966 Mk 1A (B382000262) since 2011, and have been restoring it over the past few years. Unfortunately, we moved during that time to Charleston SC, and our new house has no garage, so thinking of selling the car in early Jan. It's an interesting story to it. Previous owner Carlo Bernadino and his dad Vitalian had the car since the mid 70s (Vitalian is listed as the owner in the Book of Norman entry, page 264). At some point, Carlo replaced the engine with a 289. Car was originally in Connecticut, followed Carlo around the country as he went to med school and residency. He had shown it at a few local meets and had it TAC'd in 2005. It wound up in California around 2008, where he was using it as his daily driver in Monterey. He sold it to me in 2011, and had set it up as a rally type car.
We drove it down to San Diego (great run on HW 1), and enjoyed it for a few years as a fun #3 driver car. Did the La Jolla Concourse Cruise and a bunch of other events. I started working on her with Smitty at Sunbeam Specialties around 2013. We pulled the subframe and did the reinforcement, went through the hubs and brakes, and started working on the trunk. I had to move in 2014, so took the car to Brad at Jenkinson Concourse and Customs to finish it. That pretty much turned into a full on restoration, which is getting close to being done. Just repainted, new interior and dash, and new wheels. New correct rebuilt 260 engine from Paradise Wheels, transmission and rear end are original. Car is great, probably a strong #2 when it's done. I wish I could keep it, but it's probably best to sell to someone who's got a garage and tools to work on it. We are planning on visiting it and driving it one last time in early Jan, and selling it after that. It also has a hardtop. I've also got a bunch of books and documentation on it. Nice car, about 65k miles, completely restored, and known history with 2 owners over the past 30 years. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
