Located in North Texas. Most of the Tigers in the TX/OK area have been TAC'd at this point - at least those that we know of...

I'm more than willing to lend a hand in the TAC process in the middle part of the country (or any other part for that matter). Both the coasts seem to be well covered but would like to assist in the process in the Midwest. (MN/IA/NE/KS/etc) where TAC is not as readily available.

It takes a bit of planning to get two junior TAC inspectors lined up, but if an area can pull a Tiger or ten together we could probably make it happen. I know many on this list are certified inspectors and may lend their expertise.

It's a great program and, as any of us who follow the market know, prices are rising and the potential for fraud rises with it...

Just a retired owner looking to preserve the marque...

Many Thanks!

Rob,

Thank you for your help in preventing fraud - either intentional or unintentional. I had my car TAC inspected a couple of years ago, even though I knew it started life as a Tiger. I have owned my car since 1970, and there was no reason to go through the expense back then to convert an Alpine to a Tiger, when Tigers were cheap and available. I wanted to have that sticker on my car so that no one else can challenge its authenticity. You are providing a great service to the Tiger community. Thanks!

Pretty impressive to think 7000 Tigers and I was 1,003 TAC'd? (have to look at my car) a few months ago. Good job! Add Norm's tracking and you have great records.

I mentioned a while back that an Oldsmobile 442 sold for $350K a couple years ago and our Oldsmobile watchdogs (including me) found all the paperwork on the car was counterfeit. Buyer was refunded his money. We are tracking a lot less 442 w-30 convertibles too. Lee

Thanks Duke. Did not know when your return was. I think we have opportunities up your way if we can just coordinate it. Has the Midwest Tiger club been active in TAC? Just looking at possibilities...

Agree Lee. 442's are prime targets for misrepresentation. Keep up the good work on behalf of the "Orphan" community!

Not that I know of. Not sure if the MTC has done anything. What will be nice is that with my Tiger being off the road for a year, I will have lots of victims that will fall pray to it again. Got to where nobody would play with me. Corvette driver to Corvette friend - "Look out for that little red car, it will smoke you".

I know of several owners in the northeast that would attend a TAC session , I am now on a slow mend and retired and would be interested in getting involved in TAC

BITD I ordered a '67 Cutlass. In 1967 "442" was not a car model but an option on a Cutlass which got you the 400 inch motor and suspension upgrades. The "order" was for a sedan (not hard top) and bucket seat delete. An automatic with column shifter and no A/C.

On delivery it had a couple issues. Bad paint on the hood which was sprayed and the right side said 442 while the left side of the assembly line stuck a Cutlass script on. The dealer fixed that to but I had to point it out.

Wondering if any "real" 442's survived that are not equipped w/bucket seats and or a full window frame on each front door?

Rick

I have an acquaintance who was recently duped into paying large $$$ for what was represented by the seller as a 1968 Shelby GT 350 drop Top. Took me about 5 mins to Identify it as a fake , not a bad car and nicely done , but just not a Shelby , and worth less than 1/2 what he paid.
He hired a professional shopper ( who I suspect knew the cars dubious history ) They are now embroiled in a court battle , .....
The same " shopper " has just led another fellow to a Tiger , I am hoping I dont see ann Alger parked in his garage .

This stuff goes on every day and GM cars seem to be especially vulnerable to this crap.

Stock 1970 Oldsmobile 442 $40,000 restored, 1970 Oldsmbile 442 W-30 $75,000, documented 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 $95,000+. Same car in the convertible 442 convertible $60,000, 442 w-30 convertible $125,000, documented convertible $150,000+, my documented 1970 W-30 convertible 4 speed, aluminum rear end w-27 with pictures when it was new, order form and other documents $265,000. Highest car like mine recent sale $325,000. The cars are all exactly the same except for a few special parts that can still be obtained and an broadcast card that you could have bought on ebay a few years ago. I have seen so many counterfeits that I used to say my car was on of 96 made with 150 still remaining. Lee

Help keep our Tigers special!

there is a fellow here in CT that has been caught faking Buicks / Olds / Chevy several times , he is still in business and does quite well. never his fault always the POs doing , BS its him, I have seen it first hand . Yet he always finds a sucker !!

CTTiger and Tiger64

Where are you guys at? It just takes a bit of planning before the snow flies...

Glad to help out. Can you pull together a location that possibly has a lift of some sort? Not a requirement but makes it easier and more thorough... Pick some dates and let me see who is available to assist...

Ohio Tiger in need of TAC'ing

Hey guys, I'm in Toledo (4 hrs from Chicago) and want my Mk1a TAC'ed. Car is still in shop and I was hoping to have it ready for TA/AE United in Boyne in early September. But we're not going to make it. I think it would be feasible for my car to be ready in mid October for a trip to Chicago. Please keep me posted if the Chicago event comes to pass. Thanks.

Hope you all come to Las Vegas some day! There are several cars there that would loved to be TACed.

Have Tiger, can't travel,

Paul

We have four cars in Chicago already and will send out a note to the general membership to see how many we can get for late October. I happen to have a lift in my garage and am about 30 minutes west of O'Hare airport. Please give me about 2 weeks to poll the members.

I am about an 8 hour Tiger drive from the Chicago area. No issue, crash space would be welcome.
