Trying to determine if the rear mounting bracket should be straight or bent my car didn't have the metal storage compartment when I got it and car is tucked away in trailer plus still winter here in northern Michigan.

These photos may help you understand how the back bracket should be. Set the side pieces where they need to be and you'll see where the back bracket should be. There is a shoulder bolt that holds it and there is a ball socket that fastens the front pin.

Eric thanks for the pictures you wouldn't happen to have a picture of one of the side panels want to clean mine up for paint but my car is hard to get at right now so not sure if the mounting brackets are straight or have a slight bend to them. As you can see in my picture mine have a bend in them. Also is there a spacer between the bracket and car and do you know of a source for the seals that go on the 3 metal compartment pieces. Thanks Kevin

Rick@ Sunbeam Specialties should have all the parts you need. Buy the # AT 67 which includes the 2 ball sockets for the front pins on the side covers and the 2 shoulder pivot screws for the back. Your back brackets are bent. Set the covers in place when you have time and you'll see what you have to do to line things up. You'll also need #AT 81 which is the rubber trim for the side brackets and #AT83 which is the trim for the large door. Don't know current cost of these items. I'm not Eric, I'm bigger than him.

Thanks Bob already have #AT 67 will call Rick on the rest

65Sunbeam is Eric.
Ken those look like the SII Alpine side bin covers.
There's a whole latch and curved assisting thing a ma jig . The UK Alpine guy that has a you tube channel has a nice video on it. I think it's called the Sunbeam Alpine channel.

I think it might be the photo angle. I thought eay alpine at first glance beacuse of the latch.. But it appears to have vynil.trim on the vertical face.

The early cars dont. If the vynil is triangluar shaped its likely series 3-iv and tiger...

These are the early style not for tiger

Michael,
You have a series 2 Alpine. Open the top doors and compare the body area below where the side doors set to the photo of my series 4 and you'll see that there is not a need for the triangular shaped panels on the top doors of series 1 & 2. The body panel ran straight back to the area where it meets the large door. The area covered by the triangle was removed with the series 3 which required the addition of the triangle shape panel. This change of removing part of the body panel could have been made because of the change to a different top frame and different B post caps. I made a trip to a shop in Dayton yesterday to see the progress of the series 2 currently being restored. We were comparing the top doors to those of series 3 thru series 4 and MK1 Tigers. The large door of the later cars is also different from the later cars. The hinges for the large door of the early cars was welded to the frame rail instead of being attached to the inner fender.

Bob .. In well aware of the panel design in the early cars v the late..

If you read my post you would understand i was suggesting the angle of the photos in the post may have mislead Warren to thinking the covers were early series rather than s3 onwards.

That is why i posted the photos of the early style to show of striaght edge early...if triangular area with trim below they are later.

And yes the rear door is different on early amd latw.. And if you know your early Alpines you'd k ow SI rear door is different to SII and the side covers also changed.

That's a better picture Ken. Think that a lot of guys put in a roll bar took off the bins set em aside.....
Then poof what happened to them . I picked up my set cause the sheet metal wasn't tweaked from being forced over the soft top frame.
Failed ad line for the Sunbeam. " You don't just put up the top you erect it."
:)

When I was at his shop Tuesday, the old guy and I were comparing the top boot doors that came with the series 2 versus another complete set which may be from a series 1.
