Can someone tell me what is the correct carb for my 64 tiger? Mine has a 2bbl Ford part #c40F J. It is sitting on a 1 inch thick spacer. My hood proves that there is not enough room. While I'm at it, how do I identify the original manifold?

Simple questions for many of you, so be nice please.

Thanks, Mat

In part answer to my own question. I found the correct part is c4DF E. My C4OF J is from a 64 289 Fairlane but is still an Autolite 2100. So the new question is, what is the difference? What carb spacer should I have? And I still don't know if my intake manifold is the correct one.

Any info is appreciated. Mat

Mat,

Is the psacer a insulator of fibre/poly.. or is it a spacer with a small port that comes off it and attaches to a hose?

Some pictures woudl help.

Also i assume you are still running the stock filter housing? What height is the filter element?

Spacer appears aluminum. Has port on firewall side with a hose attached. Has original air filter housing, and I dont think the filter is wider than stock. Will measure it and try to post photo tonight when I get home. Thanks

I cant figure out how to post pictures.

Can anyone just tell me what came originally on MK1 as far as intake manifold and spacer?

Sounds like you have the original spacer, the manifold would be a ford cast iron 2bbl i will see if i can find the part number

Air filter (without housing) is 1 7/16 inch wide. Manifold has 3J30 stamped (or riveted) right next to distributor. Right in front of the carb ,the numbers on the manifold seem to have been ground off, but the last three look like 425.

Is it possible my carburetor is taller than the original one?

My air cleaner bolt is hitting the hood.

I have the right motor mounts.

Trying to post pictures. Cant get them to open

Hi Mat,

I dug out the cast iron intake manifold that came on my original 260 motor. My car is a Mark 1A but I think the 260 intake would be the same as for a Mark 1.

Anyway, the cast in part number is C50E-9425D and there is as separate large 4 cast in somewhat above that number, roughly above the part number dash.

Up near #5 cylinder there is a cast in tag of sorts with cast in slotted screw heads on each end. On the tag part is cast in 5A28. Up near the front center of the manifold is a cast in circle with the numbers 1,3,5,7,9 and a cast in dot outside the circle near the nine. Only other cast in ID's are the FoMoCo logo, what I believe is the Cleveland foundry stamp, and the firing order. The original motors also came with a removable aluminum tag attached to the manifold with a single screw, which I have somewhere safe.
I can dig that out if it is of interest to you. Again this is for a Mark1A motor. Car Vin is...1447.

Hope some of that helps.

Well, sometimes the best thing to do is start at the start. My hood has a slight dent up from the air cleaner bolt. I assumed I had some wrong parts, and once was told that something looked wrong about my carb or spacer or manifold.

I went out and did the loose roll of aluminum on the air cleaner and closed the hood. Checked in a few places, and found I have about one inch clearance.

I must have at one time, closed the hood when the air cleaner was not on all the way, or some other kind of "oops".

Live and learn. I hope to be at the monthly meeting in October.
