So I scooped up this Sunbeam radio. I read the Alpine site and it says that they also had a Chrysler logo. Now I have seen at least 4 or 5 of these and not one had a pentastar. Link here http://www.sunbeamalpine.org/plugins/p2_news/printarticle.php?p2_

The speaker box is a dead ringer for a VW one except the VW one has a sticker that says Sapphire I

It works great on the bench it has a date stamping on it's inspection sticker a 65 and 66 both probably a little early for the hostile takeover by those capitalist swine from Detroit;)

What do you all say about the lack of the Pentastar?

I have several including two that were installed in the fast backs and none have the Chrysler pentastar. later cars did use different knobs from what was used on series alpines and tigers.

Thanks

Bob, I was unsure of the accuracy of the Alpine site's study as one can't see the details on the picture included. Of the several I have seen was a N.O.S. in the box of Chuck Daly's . His Mk2 is going to auction with some Kraco under dash unit as he sold the AM set on eBay for about 400 in 2011,there was no Pentastar on his either. Rick J. or should I say Lord Rick :) has one as well with no star in a earlier console.

I had a similar under dash unit a 70's AM/FM with the same stamped steel holder but as much as I liked the easy access to volume controls it was an annoying in the way item if any fiddling was required under dash.

Warren,
I'll take some photos this evening including a few of various dealer mounting plates and post them.
