Correct positraction unit for all Sunbeam Tigers. This unit accommodates 2.72, 2.88, 3.07, 3.23, 3.31, 3.54 and 3.73 gear ratios. It has been disassembled, cleaned, inspected and rebuilt with brand new factory clutch kit, 22233X, for the street setup. The posi is pre-lubed with limited-slip oil, torqued and ready to install.

$450 + shipping and insurance. Will ship international.

We've used Gary's set ups and can recommend his workmanship.

I agree great set up and was told where to buy the pinion yoke to suit only concern was driving the axles home took a big weight while turning the pinion.

No hammer please

No need to risk damage by driving in the axles. I've found that discs can be slightly out of alignment. Correction is to anchor one axle at a time while inserted as far as it will go. Using "appropriate" leverage turn the opposite axle while pressing inward. A bit of back & forth will remedy the needs without bending or breaking a disc ear.

Is it OK to install existing 2:88 gearing vs. purchase new

Probably been asked multiple times - but wondering if the stock 2:88 gears can be used with this posi or is it best to purchase a new ring/pinion set. Any recommendations to source new ring/pinion. Any recommendation for shop to install and rebuild rear dif.

There are 2 bolt sizes for Tiger ring gears, 3/8" and 7/16". I can set up this unit for either size. Most Tigers came from the factory with 2.88 gears and 7/16" ring gear bolts, however, I suggest you remove the rear cover (drain the oil first) and remove one of the ring gear bolts to confirm.

Yes, you can keep your original 2.88 gears. When installing the posi unit using the original 2.88 gears, you don't need to remove the pinion gear from the housing, since they are a matching gear set and the depth of the pinion gear does not change. You just need to shim the posi unit left to right to get the correct backlash.
