The discussions I have heard elsewhere , STOA Zoom meeting and read on Alpine group is that all is planned and going ahead with final decisions to be made in June hotels and vendor's $ commitment.

Sorry All, I should have actually given some information to answer Allan’s question.
Reps from the six US Rootes clubs met via web conference a few weeks ago. Although COVID is still a concern we continue to plan for a Sep 13-17 2021 event. Host hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn Independence, MO. Room rate will be $109.00. We are hoping to open Registration around Apr 1st. We will continue to assess the COVID situation going forward. We are committed to holding an event that is safe for all. Come June we will need to start committing $$$$, so harder decisions will be made at that time. We can cancel and postpone to 2022 anytime before Aug 14, 2021.

Thanks. None of this info is on the websites so will you post this on the other sites at this time or wait until you have concrete info? There are many that can't wait until the last minute ( month ) to apply for vacation time. No info could affect the number of attendees. Another question is why no weekend days are included?

As I recall there's some other event on the weekend and the rates are more $.
I have had the benefit of one CAT meeting last year and the Zoom meeting.
So the details were presented there, and STOA has designated their website as an official club information source.

Another consideration MIGHT have been the distance many folks might be driving to attend. By having the activities during the week, folks can drive to the event on one weekend and drive home the next, requiring only 5 days away from work. This is speculation on my part, but seems to make sense. And Warren's comment about hotel rooms being more expensive is probably another factor - they usually are more expensive in resort areas on weekends.

Independence, Mo is not what could be called a resort area. The city is part of the Kansas City metro area. The Truman Library is there and Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Kansas City Chiefs) is a short distance away at I -70 and I -435 which is close so a football game may account for weekend problems in September. If anyone plans to fly in you'll find the airport to be on the north west side of K.C. That is a good distance from the SUNI location. We plan on being there on the 12th since it's only a distance of 650 miles from us. The wife and I have been to all the SUNI's and the only thing that could keep us from being there is a lock down due to a pandemic.
