FWIW...
I bought an un-TAC'd Tiger last October as it was vetted by club members. After I bought it, it was immediately TAC'd:
1) Just to make sure I didn't totally make a huge financial mistake...
2) Because it was too darned easy to TAC with Bill Martin's shop just an hour down the road..
3) My Tiger wasn't quite finished and I wanted some input - a 'pre purchase inspection'; which was the largest benefit I have realized....
I love our Tiger even though it still needs a lot of love and has a rather sizable to-do-list. But makes me think of that Tiger that I looked at in Fresno and passed on because it;
... Wasn't TAC'd...
... Was very pretty
... 'recently restored' and had a bunch of undercoat to hide potential indiscretions...
... nobody anywhere /including Norm/ had any history on this particular Tiger.
Had that Fresno Tiger had a TAC, I probably would have bought it that first day I looked at it.
I simply can't think of a down-side to a TAC if you have a real Tiger.
Even if you know you have a real one and just can't make it convenient to get a TAC, consider where your Tiger might go if something unexpected happens to you. As an airline pilot I face that every day I go to work so for me it was a no-brainer.
Cheers, -Kevin
