The jig is up!

I finally finished building the jig and attaching my MK1 to it. I was a bit nervous as I adjusted the rotisserie, almost an out of travel before it balanced. Now for the fun!
 
OOOOMPH !!

A tad hefty on the big iron there fella, but ya done good . . . . .now please hammer that ugly crease out of the spare tyre well.

Could you make a reference measurement please of where the neutral axis is relative to a point on the vehicle when it's right side up? Something like, "the neutral axis is 2 inches below the forward mounting bolt hole of the front crossmember?" Doesn't have to be extremely accurate, but I've always wondered about where the line would be drawn, within an inch or so. Also, if you've any idea, what is the weight of the other little bit you've attached to the Tiger body that rotates with it?

You're right, it is a bit hefty. I wanted to be sure the jig wouldn't flex while I install all of the sheetmetal I bought from you!

I'll look at that today, but the balance point is controlled by the weight of the jig. Its made of 3 x 6 x 3/16 steel at 10 lbs per foot. There is about 38 feet of material in the jig; plus the smaller pieces I'd put the approximate weight at 425#.
 
My chinese ready made jig that connects to the jack points and the bumper points has worked out very well. I did take to mind the concerern about the cars rigidity. Because my car was very good with no corrosion at all, I have turned it upside down, sideways etc during the restore without any extra bracing and it has not deformed in any way. Shows the origional structure is very rigid.

The balance axis is about 4 -1/2 inches below a line drawn between the rear bumper attachment points.

I knew that before I built it and it doesn't appear like its going to be much of a problem

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of a substantially rust free shell. It's pretty rusty; I wanted to be sure nothing was going to move .
