When we lived in Miami & bought my wife a new car, a standard option was a LOJACK tracking system.

Today, I see lots of small GPS units that can be hidden in our cars are available. As our cars go up in value, it might be a good investment...

Anyone have any experience with these tracking units? Thanks...

GPS tracker

No experience with them, but I've seen them too and will most likely get a couple later on just for piece of mind. I'm curious too as to how well these cracker sized trackers work? I'm sure if you found one you liked, or you were considering, you could Google reviews for it or maybe check YouTube and see what people think about the ones they have.

Surely there must be someone out there that has already installed one of these units. Anyone?

Hi

I have installed these in my Tiger and Healey 3000 and trailer and they are cheap and do the business. Highly recommended.

I don't know if this link will work, but just go on ebay and search for car tracker. You just put a pay as you go sim card in the unit and it will give you the GPS coordinates of the car when you call it, or allow you to track it on Google Earth. Also has a feature that allows you to 'ring-fence' the car, so if it moves 200yds it calls you and warns you. Stunning technology for $50.00. I have recommended it to a lot of friends.
Hope this helps,

Andy

Appears that you must remove the unit every 3 days to recharge it. Is that how you use it?

I wonder if someone doesn't offer a hard wired unit?
