Hi All,
Could anyone tell me if there is a difference in the metal seat frames, the part that the upholstery fits around, in Mark 1, Mark 1A and Mark 2 Tigers. I have a spare set of seats 1A style and I would like to put Mark 2 style covers on them. I don't want to buy the upholstery kit and find out it won't fit.
thanks:confused:

They are the same. series III - Tiger

Well.. alomst the same... isn't there is a slight difference in the mountings for the bum support of the early S3/IV seats vs the later Sv where they early cars use the webbing and the later the rubber diaphram.. apart from that they are the same and can be used on either anyway.

The IA and II seats are the same bar the covers.

I know some Tiger seats have the webbing on the underside and some have the bladder and then I think there is a slight difference in the seat backs because I was asked what type of seat backs I had when ordering the seat kits--the frames are a little different due to this I believe because I had to modify one of my frames to accommodate the interior on the seat back.

frame

there are differences between the loose flap backs and the later seats. when the shop was restoring my frames for the loose flap he asked me to drop off another loose flap back for parts to repair or to use in place of the original.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I am going to go ahead and redo the seats with the Mark 2, style covers.

Excellent How To... and TU website editor contact?

OK, I'm one of the newer guys around here...

Can someone tell me the correct contact for the TU website (EDIT: Found Steve's info on here...) and/or help with this...?

A google search pulled up a fantastic seat redo review. You may find it here...

http://www.tigersunited.com/techtips/ParlantiSeats/JoeParlantiSeatsPt1.asp

However, a search of all united directories did not pull this article up; not under the topic, nor the author (Parlanti). The link from contributing editors which listed Joe also only went to ONE single article of his; gauge refresh which was also not listed in some locations. I would assume the same situation is happening on other authors / topics.

If there are other docs like this out there, its a shame to have them lost/missing.

I tried to use the mail posted on the site to Steve Laifman (editor@tigersunited....), it bounced. (EDIT: trying "editors")

A most simple solution would be to give public access to ALL raw files under a techtips subdirectory. One wouldn't need to do much.. Or perhaps some of you have a more complete list?

Your link to the seat restoration article works for me...

Steve Laifman passed away a couple of years ago. I believe his son, Jay, is keeping the flame burning at TU, but I don't have his email. However, if you are on the Tiger owners email list, Jay is active there.

Condolences

I was afraid something must have been amiss, when his last post was in 2009.

Hard enough for me to manage my own affairs not to mention those of Dad since his passing in 2012, can understand the non-priority level of a website. I have seen Jay's posts on the message board and had not put the names together, thank you.

Wishing the Laifman's the best. My offer to help de-bug links stands, but I'm not sure the mails made it through.

I've not updated my own site, so it's not as though I misunderstand the effort involved.

Thanks to those that responded,
