Does anyone have an opinion on getting a carpet kit and misc. panel kit from Sunbeam Specialties vs having kits built from Martha Christiansen? I understand that Martha includes shims and like for a good fit. Any material quality differences? Cut and fit differences?

I'd appreciate hearing feedback or opinions on one vs the other from members who have seen and perhaps purchased from either source. If anyone prefers to respond outside of this forum, I can be reached at: corras@riversports.com. Thanks!

I believe, in the past, Martha's kits (interior and carpet) and the ones Rick (SS) sells were one and the same.

From what I have heard over the past year - Martha is out of the business now so I don't know where Rick is getting his kits to sell.

I talked to Rick last year when I was looking for a new carpet kit and he is only selling Black kits with absolutely no intention in getting any other color (I was looking for a dark blue carpet kit).
I ended up getting a carpet kit, in the color I wanted, from the UK - CarHoods - they sell on UKebay. I did some research before purchase and all the reviews on CarHoods came back stellar.
They were easy to work with. The price was right except the shipping, as expected, was costly. They have a ton of different colors and a few different styles and quality of carpet material. The carpet did not come with a jute backing which I plan to add before installation (which is probably good in that it would have been a much more costly shipping w/ the extra weight).

rick probably has to buy a large amount of the carpet in order to get it at an affordable cost and also to get the same dye color. I ordered a set of red carpets for a series 2 alpine back in 2006 and also bought another 12 yards of the same carpet so our local shop could make carpets for my fast back that we were restoring at the time. he had the carpet on order and i had to wait until the shipment arrived. last month i needed to have two red front floor sections for the RHD LeMans we're restoring now so I called rick and found there was only enough of this red to make these two sections and nothing else. it took about 7 years to use up the bolt of carpet. that's not much return on investment so I can understand rick's reasoning for not stocking other colors.

Thanks, John. I've been in touch with Martha and she is ready willing and able to make kits. She indicated being able to supply pretty much everything/ anything interior wise. She did indicate having shims and the like to make the carpets fit precisely. Not sure that stuff comes with SS kits. Martha sent me samples of "Veteran Company" carpet. I'm wondering if that is the same as SS sells. Anybody else have opinions? Thanks.

Good to hear she is still in business--she does great work and as I found out any color you want....that was the best part. Good luck Doug.
