Hi

Can anyone help me?
I have a bare Hardtop, A new headliner is on it's way. I don't have the bows but plan to fabricate them using bows from another vehicle
Does anyone have any photos or can anyone tell me how how the headliner attaches to the front of the Hardtop I am assuming there must be some sort of plate that is either screwed or clipped to the Hardtop

FWIW, there also is some good info on the Tigersunited.com website. Takes a little digging to find it.

Couple of important things I remember from reading that stuff is perhaps worth mentioning here. (Have not done any of this yet.)

The cross bows are all different and color coded on the tips. Order of installation is also in the shop manual.

The front part, up by the windshield, needs to be installed first. There is a flat metal piece that matches the contour of the part of the hardtop welded into that area across the front of the top. You need to lay the headliner out upside down with the rear part the farthest away from the front edge of the hard top. The headliner front edge is laid on the hardtop metal and that flat contoured metal strip placed on top of it. It is then riveted to the hard top with the fabric in between. Then the fabric is is folded back into the hard top cavity, bows installed, etc. If you look closely at one of Randy's pictures, you can just see that front metal strip through a tear in the old material. How one gets everything all properly spaced and nice and tight is a mystery to me!

Also notice that the fabric goes under the rear window rubber first before the rear window is installed. From what I read, that rear window install is a whole separate pain.

Another worthwhile thing to mention is the factory added some not so great insulation to the roof.. now is a great chance to put somethign liek dynamat or similar on the roof.. will make a BIG difference to sound and heat transfer... am sure you would be putting somethign there.. but best to mention just incase.

Actually, that chubby Jute did a fair job of sound & heat control. And, it has the added benefit of keeping the mice & chipmunks warm in the winter.

Randy, it was ok for the period.. i thought it also fed them mice.. but i guess it gets back to the old gingerbread house scenario.. it's food or shelter, not both! :D

I have replaced the rubber in my hardtop, the headliner is next then the glass. I figure I have 2 months to figure this out too.

Some repros on ebay now

If someone else could copy the pic and the sellers name, I am moving threads today. Tis rather tedious but can't do much else today.

Hope it attaches

Warren,
