Tiger resto in NZ

Eu spec Tiger plate. for the EU delivered cars.. alpines 260's .. french cars aslo have their own additional plate.

After a bit of drama with the steering rack having a very worn slipper pad which allowed the rack to disengage with the teeth on the rack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt0erFo7-g8 I finally got the rack back again today.

Here are some pic's of it on the bench.

Bronze bush made for the pinion end,

New slipper pad and lighter spring. Now the rack is bushed at the pinion end it does not rely on the slipper pad to engage the pinion with the rack.

ALSO THIS IS A MODIFIED RACK , that uses straight trac rods, an internal rack which is from a Morris Oxford, diamater turned down to the Tigers rack. The Oxford rack measured the same as a Midget rack. Steering arms are MGB.

On the bench it runs as smooth as silk :D
I am sure once it is in the car the new bush will make it feel the same as it does on the bench.

Drive down the road

Short video of the car on the road.

At first I thought the engine was a bit flat and perhaps the Ford GT roller cam was not working with the rest of the engine combo. Considering I was using what I got with the used short block I was never sure if it was going to work well.

Then I discovered I only had about 1/3 throttle. Now :D

I don't know what compression the cam was designed for but I am running 10.1 : 1 with iron heads. I new I could be pushing my luck with detonation, but I can't get the engine to rattle at all even from accelerating from low rev's in third gear.

Anyway short video of the car on the road. Sorry about the dirty windscreen.

Thank you for posting that. Beautiful drive. Glad the large bird at 1:15 went away from you instead of into you. I can't wait to get my car done.

Regards,
John.

Very nice car! If i may.... the black wheel are not my cup of tea. They draw a little bit too much attention.

Thanks guys

Still have the hard and soft top to go yet. Hard top has had some dodgy repairs done to it in the past.

It does look nice.

Did you get a LH cubby box made up?

I made a whole new dash and decided It would look nicer if I made up a door for the cubby box.

I was just curious as to what you had done since I posted an opposite hand pic of mine. At the time I was reconstructing mine sans staples (I wonder, do you lose points at a concours for missing staples?). I laid my old one out and traced for a template. Thought you might have done the same for your box.

Keep up the nice work.

I had a couple of small jobs to do on the Tiger this morning. Then looked at it and realised it was warrant of fitness time. So I took it into the testing station

We are road legal
