What what do you do when you're tired of banging your head on your Tiger hardtop while on a sling over the car in the garage, and the missus says get that damn thing out of the family room. One of my best friends has a hard top in his family room and it's been there for 2 years but he's got an excuse he isn't with us anymore
I thought about buying one of those $123 spindly looking racks from Amazon they show with a Mercedes-Benz SL hardtop on it. They also show a warning this does not fit your Sunbeam Tiger. Since my top has aftermarket AS2 and tempered side glass windows I figured it needs a little more support.
Outside of the Simpson corner ties 3, 2" X 3" x 8' Pine framing wood I had all lying around.
The imported Harbor Freight dolly was about the same dimensions as the Chinese hardtop trolley..
I did add some old dive weights to the bottom to make it more stable.
Use a circular saw to do The joinery at the top pieces other than that it's all screw and construction adhesive with the Simpson corners. Add a cut up old wetsuit for padding I didn't have any nice black carpet lying about. Oh and yeah I could have just spent $140 ish on the Amazon or ePay one , but it was tough enough paying the lumber fee for each board and sales tax on the store-bought items. Plus there's always the I did it myself and I know it's not going to tip over if I bump into it some afternoon while bumbling in the garage.
