Tiger warning B382000570LRXFE

Mixed up

Bonnet pull, Tach at 6 o"clock? Are those early heater control knobbers,? aftermarket battery retention arm holders, tonneau cover blocking spare tire view, dinky expansion tanks but looks close I wonder who built that? Lic plate issued in 2009 ish seller lives in Utah ?
Oh, and the thing needs an air cleaner, I know where there are a few soon all gone :)

Re-Body Maybe ? ! ?

Got this response from the owner:
" This is a real Tiger. I found the car in southern California behind a guy's garage, where it had been sitting for over 20 years. The car was apart and we have painstakingly put it back together. The VIN and all the other parts are Tiger. I've owned the car for 5 years. Whether it is on a registry of Tigers or not, I have no idea. But it is a genuine Tiger." I guess he can blame the other guy . . .

The owner may actually be correct in his description of his car. It may very well be true that "This is a real Tiger." And "The VIN and all the other parts are Tiger." could also be true.

Is it is a true Tiger? - Not enough information from those picture to make that determination. The car would need to be inspected.
Is the VIN real? It appears to be.

But there is still something wonky - As far as I can tell from the pictures provided - that car should have a B947xxxxxx VIN not it's present B382xxxxxx VIN. I don't believe that car came from the factory with that VIN.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

John

Interesting

The seller has kept out of state plates on it for 5 years . Even the laziest would get around to a DMV trip in his home state. Unless NH has personal property tax on vehicles equal to the value they pick why would you pay Calif 80 to 100 bucks a year. "The vin and all the other parts are Tiger", what a way to avoid the question

No Way

"The vin and all the other parts are Tiger", what a way to avoid the question

There is no way that VIN plate and that body belong together. Who knows if that body started off as a Tiger or as an Alpine? Where is the JAL tag? And there are a lot of bolt-on parts that are not Tiger (5-lugs front and rear and the "Curry" rear end). Speaking of the "curry" rear end, did that come from India? Or did it come from Currie Enterprises? The steering wheel, air filter housing and radiator shroud also are not Tiger parts. And how does one set up traction bars for 5-lug wheels? This car screams out for a TAC before laying out any money for it.

Thanks for the warning, Michael!

The YouTube clip might be more appropriate...

The car may well be based on a tiger shell, but the vin is from a mkia ... So at the bare minimum you are buying another tiger, not the one on the vin.... Worst case you are buying an early siv alpine with ex tiger parts and a mkia vin tag
