Ok, I've been fighting a no start of my rebuilt engine. The local machine shop did the machining and supplied some parts through their supplies. I assembled the engine and looked forward to starting it up. It won't start, and in another thread I got enough info to ensure I've got the right TDC and timing. So I went back and looked at the engine components. The shop supplied early 289 heads with the larger valves and an early 302 crankshaft/rods to stroke it a bit. I discovered (or looked for the first time) that the camshaft is for a newer 302/351 with a firing order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Can I reorder the distributor cap for this order or does it also have to match the crankshaft, in which I need to replace the cam? Sigh.
