Tonneau Cover

Take your wife's hair dryer and heat it up and pull hard to secure it it on the studs. During the summer the sun will do the heating.

As the top ages it drys out.
I've tried silicone sprays in the sun hanging them with weights. Results can be ok if the thread doesn't give out as well . The original metal zippers and thread often then gives out. I have not tried the rubber softener method of oil of Wintergreen diluted . A rubber and plastic guy from Chrysler and Tiger guy suggested that the plasticizers have dried out. Naturally there's some internet discussion about the pluses and minuses of silicone and or wintergreen oil. No doubt getting it warm in the sun with something to make it supple again is the ticket.
I got mine plenty soft but it still had broken down. Then there's the old stiffness of the tonneau and grit that gets trapped between the vinyl and the body that chafes the paint..

There are new covers available from SS or other suppliers. A good upholstery shop can make one.

When i restored my car in 1993 , I have removed the stud , to install a new dashpad , did not re-install the stud at the time , ' i will just install the the new studs to fit the old tonneau cover , even if i am missing about an inch. !!!!
