A couple of years ago I bought a mk2 that had a numbers correct trans but a rear end from a mk1.

I realize this is incredibly unlikely but does anyone know the whereabouts of rear axle #A67-297?

The seller was an original CAT member and he bought the car in the mid 70's from another early CAT member.

The guy I bought the car from didn't know anything about it.

The number of the rear axle that is in the car now is H64-434.

thanks

Just a question: Was the panhard bar mount shifted to the MK II position?
Also, some years ago I supplied conversion parts for an Alger project including a MK II rear. I just sent the Canadian owner a request for the stamping #.

Hi Randy, the rear end in the car had an original mk2 panhard bracket poorly welded to the tube in the correct location on the passenger side.

I could see where it was lopped off a mk2 diff with a cutting torch.

At least I have an original bracket.

Thanks for checking with your customer.
