Two Tigers on eBay

I noticed that there were two "Tigers" listed on eBay, both with very low "Buy Now" price. Looks like both sold the same day there were listed.

The first was http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965...&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123&forcev4exp=true. It was item number 251194598213. It was listed as a Tiger Mk I, but no VIN was listed, nor was there any photos of the VIN plate. It sold for $17,000. Looks like it has some sort of fuel cell was mounted in the trunk and it had louvers on the hood. The listing stated it had a 289.

The second was http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967...&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123&forcev4exp=true. It was item number 150959166814. It was listed as a Tiger, with no Mark number listed. Again, there was no VIN number listed nor any photos of the VIN plate. It sold for $15,000. I hope it was a typo where the listing said the drive type was FWD.

If these two cars were truly Tigers, the buyers got very good deals, unless it was only the paint holding the rust together everywhere.

I'd guess both were scams.

The first car outside the dealers place was talked about on the list maybe 12 months back..

the second car is surely fraud.. I'm quite sure that car is now in Australia and is RHD... the pictures look to be from an original ebay listing a few years back.. it sold to a dealer and then sold down under. Will see if i can ppost pics of it later today.. but the bonnet scoop is quite a give away.

just weird

I posted later that I saw the Va. Car in the early AM about 2
Pacific time.
Seems when a car sells the eBay system gives it a mock 7***** 645
Last no. The feedback number.
The completed sale would be in completed auctions.
It is also not out of the realm of possibility it is the foundation of a ruse by a extremely savy buyer. Imagine pitching to the helpless widow, "see what these comparable cars sold for."
You can find BIN bargains like the 700 dollar air cleaner I got,but with bid sniping services you can hardly ever hardly really great deal any more.

It seems to make better selling sense to several sellers I know to have a no reserve auction then they call in their shill bidders. Their worse case is they relist and eat selling fees, while claiming buyer flaked out.
It is also easier with 50 free listings per month now.
My bet is these cars are screen grabs from other past internet sites.
Man you young whipper snappers type fast , "Mike"

SCAM!!

Ok,

The red MKIA is a definite scam... here is the car as i suspected in Melbourne AU.. those are the pics from the ebay auction of the car a couple of years ago.

August 2010

OK, the car was listed on ebay for the second time in August 2010 where it sold down under.. the pics are the same:

I noticed the Va Beach seller got a negative feedback after the auction; makes me feel better as I paid $13K for my 65 Mk 1 project back in August. Anyone know of a legit owner (other than me) in Southeast VA? I'd like to meet them and hopefully look at their car for reference.

Rodder

I have a restored Mk1. If you feel want to take a look and do not mind the drive I am up in northern VA. Drop me a PM.

Total Fraud

I checked the feedback for the VA Beach seller. He or she had no previous feedback. The feedback was in German, and translated into English as "Would like the money via Western Union have caution fraudsters", per the Babylon translator I used. I hope no one lost anything on this fraud.

The other dubious sold Tiger was been removed from eBay, and is no longer available for viewing.

Ha 13 is a magic number.....

If you want to be re assured look to the group here. Get the car up and snap and send pics to either the group or several tac inspectors are members here. If you gp to the List I am sure you will recognise their names.
There is also listings of inspector area too.
That little triangle is like a warm and fuzzy blanket...!
