valve covers

I'm on a road trip right now & won't be home until next week when I can access pictures. In the meantime I'll try to describe the problem.

It has to do with the notches that are cut out of the forward edge of the pan to clear the crossmember. These can be improved. Many who have used the Dale/Avaid/Armondo Tiger pattern have had to cut the lip of the crossmember for additional clearance.

The current size of the cut is OK but I think it would clear better if the dimensions were flipped, reversing the amount cut from the sides with the amount cut from the front. As I said. I'm away and can't check it out. And I'm going from memory. Duke or Dale, what's your take?

No issue with my Armondo pan. Fits with no mods to the crossmember.

Tim Ronak had this issue with his Aviaid Pan.

Yeah it's good thing I'm not stock don't you think...I could point out some stuff that I had to rework but what's the point..looks good

The point is, the subject is the fit of the oil pan with the OEM crossmember.

Here are a couple of pics I got of my clearance, not easy to get with all of the "stuff" in the way.

What am I missing here Duke ?????

You already said there were no issues with Dale's pan with a stock cross member. I just added that it's also a non issue with Dale's front end. It's not stock and it's not original but it is a very nice piece and worth every bit of what it costs. It turns the car into a very nice car to drive and I'm totally sold
on the thing and you can add totally hudge brakes..frankly it doesn't get any better than that....

Dawg,
Its cool, you just did not let the reading audience know that you have a Dale A crossmember when you posted that you have no issues. Dale uses Aviaid pans and they have proven to have interference issues with the OEM CM in the past. My pan, made by Armondo, does not have an issue in my car. Armondo used to make pans for Aviaid and must have adjusted his design.

I'm still in OK City. Heading west tomorrow.

But I did call Dale today. He said in the past he also has seen the Aviaid fitment problem I described earlier. However he said the most recent Aviaid pan he installed fit fine. And Duke has posted his Armondo pan also fits nicely. It sounds like both have their Tiger acts together now.

Here is what I believe happened with the Aviaid/Armondo took the drawings pan. When the original owner of Aviaid sold the company to the current owner, John. John started cnc'ing the bottoms of the pans and in programming turned the dimension of the front corners around, causing the slight interference. I just installed a Aviaid pan last week on a car with a stock crossmember with no problems, so I am assuming John sorted out the problem.
