voltage regulator issue

Because I'm anal, I purchased a correct voltage regulator cover from fabulousfords.com Part # C2DF-10505AC ($18) for my last Mk1 Tiger restoration. This is a black cover with yellow text. I bought a USA made Echlin (Napa) regulator as it has the same spacing for the regulator cover screws.

I didn't check the height of the repro Ford cover against the Echlin cover... I should have! The repro cover is .05" shallower and interferes with the inner "guts" of the regulator. It resulted in the ammeter needle swinging wildly from charge to discharge. Removed the cover and it works fine. I have 2 options. Refit the Echlin cover or make up a thicker gasket for the repro cover.

Thought I'd pass it along for future reference!

Sean,
It would seem the regulator cover referenced is for an alternator. Is that what you intended?

Very good information - always keep the original part on hand for fitment issues.
I have not seen a totally accurate reproduction of the Generator cover from anyone. Original Ford covers have ARM, FIELD and BAT stamped into the cover and they have a yellow Warning ink stamp on each end.
Sunbeam Parts List indicates C2AF-10505-A voltage regulator.

the one I bought from fabulous fords has the correct yellow artwork. Just shallow and fouls the inner "GUTS".. I'm going to make a thicker rubber gasket
