Washer Bottle Holder Color

Hi All

My bottle holder has a developed a few rust spots so I plan to strip and repaint it. I know the color is listed as "Tudor Blue" but in a previous thread I did not see any definitive answer about a current rattle can color that might match.

In the attached photo you can see the color of my holder, but I have also heard that Tudor Blue was closer to the Old Ford Blue...not as light as the shade I have currently.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Color

A local paint shop makes rattle cans from sample. This old client of mine has a eyeball like the Home Depot color machine. I have seen a couple rattle cans that are close but nothing that would be close enough for your nice car.

The guys with machine color matching usually ask for a 1" to 2" square and that it be flat. Hard to do with a stock holder with some original paint left.

And another DD dispute, some were black, no?

I'll take another closer look, but the cage is black in Dad's crossover MKIA.

I will say this... it is remotely possible, I must admit, that he painted it at time of painting the car. But, it seems so far fetched when considering the condition of other painted components inside the engine compartment to think he would have spent the energy and time. I do have original bottle, lines and pump as well fwiw.

that said, the blue is odd... if there WERE anything in there I might paint.... that might be it. but now that the block is (currently) blue (and not correct for my VIN), maybe I'll paint it bleu...lol

NOTE: I was wrong about other stuff before (under soft top color, JAL tag color). but not a couple other thing I know to be correct on this car (fiber washers under tonneau pegs/dash, tabs on glovebox).

I'll be back...

I'd say your bracket is a little on the 'light blue' side but WTHDIK
I looked on yet another forum... http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?1,1896931 and they mention that the Krylon 3107 is NLA  They also mention that 'a widely agreed good match is BMC Riviera Blue, BMC Code BU.44, ICI Code 4022' SO... i looked that up and compared it to the old, mostly rusty bracket out in the shop and it looks pretty darn close!! Most others on that forum said just go and get a rattle can of Ford blue... close enough ;) So I guess it depends on what ya want to spend $$
Personally, I wouldn't want to complicate the red/black/chrome theme on my modified car so black for me...

Bottom or right is Krylon top is lightly compounded original color that had been up against body and protected from sunlight.

First Attempt

On my first attempt, I went with Ford Blue...What the heck for $6.99.

Attached are two pics. The color looks pretty close to the blue bits in the 2nd photo posted by 66Tiger, but definitely lighter than the Riveria Blue depicted in the 3rd photo.

I went back and double checked my BON...it says "light" tudor blue.

Comments...any photos of originals for comparison?

Very close

For 6.99 plus tax :) I was very surprised to see just how violet the original color was on the part I show it's off a SIV round corner car that was hardly picked on when I got it.

The photo attached to your 11/24 post did not come through. Could you repost?

Thanks

bottle bracket color

Try looking for "French blue" I has seen others use this shade with very close results to the originals.

I pad?

Hmmm when i look at my Android phone it shows, but here I'll try again. It looks more violet in real life. Picture shot outside natural light foggy day in So Cal. The top is the rattle can from Home Depot

Close Enough

Warren

Thanks for the repost. From my view the repaint of my bottle holder is very, very close...if not right on.

I am declaring victory and moving on.
