What the *

Good eyes Warren. Since the car has been TAC'd I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say typo... but who knows its only 100 difference. LOL!

The car has been listed a few times in the past few years, the photos were also used in some scam ads.

As for the vin listed in the details section of the auction I'd say simple typo as they show it in both the photos and tac certificate, just forgot the 1.

Okay close but no cigar

I was proposing a riddle , hint imagine you were interested in buying it. What would you do?

Easy

I would call the number in the ad and ask for an explanation? correction? I would not try to ignite a fire on the Forum with a vulgar subject line.

Rick

One *

Not a four character or even a 3 WT_.

Okay here is the oddity

The actual car listed for sale is the 110 car and it still has an * on the registry.

The 010 car is also TACed but has no *

Now in a sense the * can be a "generally means an unclaimed car" and is a unrecoverable smudge on the car.

I do not think car salesmen , especially ones that quote in their description that the original VIN tag shows it as a 39 car should get a lot of slack. If you add up the 2 mistakes or what they imply, what do you have. A car sporting a reproduction tag and a mistake pointing to a non * car.

Buyers seem to be paying more for a stock car and generally a * car is without it's transmission and or rear end or some other ID element like the real tag.

Don't get me wrong this appears a nice example but begs more informed questions and correct ad copy.

Just Curious

I would call the number in the ad and ask for an explanation? correction? I would not try to ignite a fire on the Forum with a vulgar subject line.

Rick

I agree with Rick. If I were closer, despite the TAC, I would want to crawl around the critter with my grubby mitts and determine more of it's repair history. If the close examination of the 7" servo mount welds showed Jensen's gas-less wire, then it would seem to be in conflict with the Tag's. OR, someone could have simply upsized the booster at some point. No harm no fowl.

Seller

So if this was a FSBO I'd pm him thru eBay system as I have done many a time. I had the bad luck to have an * car and defend it on BaT. I just find it odd that this seller say's " The original vin tag says 39"
Those who may recall the wooden nickel story in BON that tag was altered to reflect 39 which was on that car post restoration or creation in that case. I'm not saying this is not a TAC car.

Most buyer's are easily led astray by shiny things as I was. This car has a reproduction tag and this seller doe's a circuitous attempt at disclosure. How many times have I seen a posting or comment nice car wonder if the original tag comes with it.......

IMHO only it's a pretty Piñata and last I checked in slow Tiger world the favorite past time is to take a swing.
