Which clamps?

As part of my "Back on the road" birthday project, I am replacing the rubber hoses. Im starting with the gas tank balance tubes. I had to replace one about 30 years ago. When I did, I just used regular hose clamps. Today Id like to go back to the original wire clamps. In fact about half the clamps on my car are band type and some are original wire type. Im not trying to restore my car, but I would like to use the right clamps, or at least all the same ones. So what Im asking is are they any good? you don't see that type of clamp any more, unless its on a restored car. ( I think).

How many

Do you need? if the cad plating doesn't have to be perfect I have some you can have for postage.

On the car I drive mostly I want to set up a small day tank that wont get compromised in a fender bender.

Warren: Thanks, I don't need the large balance tube ones, but I will need about 12 small ones for the fuel line, at the holley pump, fuel filter, the connection by the trans, and at the carb. BUT more important I want to know why aren't they used anymore. It seems when most people change hoses, they change the clamps to new band style. WHY? I know that those old clamps are a PAIN IN THE REAR, and knuckles, to slide on to the new rubber, but do they still have clamping power? It took me almost an hour last night to get just one clamp on. Today, Ill use a little WD to help the clamps slide onto the new rubber.

Small clamps

What I hear, is they do not work well. I have seen a couple of guys in stock class changing at United's as they do not seem to trust them under hood. On the vent tubes and where they are not wet I'd trust them.

I don't see a good reason to use the small ones or any large ones on other than a stock car. This thread was started in General Tiger Discussion and I moved it to stock section. I just looked up your posts and recall your car, have an update on its progress? I would not bother with stock clamps on a modified car. Since we are talking stock clamps will leave post for awhile

I parted two SIVs and the fuel tank systems were complete so I have a bunch in a bag someplace.

Slow forum time now I'm sure others will add their .02 cents

Not stock

My car lost it's stock status more than 40 years ago. The p.o. spent a ton of money on wheel wells, motor work, tranny work, high back seats, and a bunch more stuff. Someday I might sell my car and I was thinking having some of the stock stuff might be nice, maybe Ill just put them in a bag too. Work on the car goes slow, I have vertigo, Its like fixing things with a hangover.

An opinion: I find that the wire clamps seem to grab a bit better on the firmer fuel compounds.

Well so far it's 1 for, and 1 against (sort of). I hope more have an opinion. Thanks for the input.
