For example -

Stock Tiger
- Engine/Engine compartment
- Transmission
- Cooling
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Body
- Interior
- Tires/wheels

Modified Tiger
- Engine
- Transmission
- Cooling
- Fuel delivery
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Power adders (boost/juice)
- Body
- Interior
- Tires/Wheels

What a novel idea Duke :p

a 'public' Tech Tips kinda:rolleyes:

I'm all for sharing any insights, data, pics etc, on anything 'Tiger'

That's what IMHO a Tiger 'community' is all about!! ;)

Tech

I love the idea. Would make it easier to find something specific, rather than doing a search the way it works now. :)

I like it

Concourse section was what another director had suggested in the past. I would add Personalized and Modified class judging punch lists as these should not be trade secrets. IMHOWDHO

That's in my humble opinion with director hat off:D

DrBill we also have tags that will help when added to make search feature work better

As a new guy around here I agree to anything that will assist "everyone" become more knowledgeable with these great cars. Doug

I would suggest adding a category for 'tools'. For example I made a spring compressor out of some simple scrap. There's a specialty tool for it but not likely many could find one. I'll bet many owners have made various tools over the years and might be an interesting thread!
Cheers, -Kevin

Tech section

I think these are all great ideas, that's why we joined the club, to share info on these cars, correct? To ask questions and to answer them, everybody has a different perspective and nobody is wrong. New ideas are refreshing. My thumbs up and 2 cents.

With sub-heads:

Engine
Transmission
Suspension
Body
Interior
Tires and Wheels

Bandwidth is essentially free. Why not use it to make things easier?

I am in favor but don't go overboard on the sub classifications.

Otherwise most of the forum activity will be moderators moving posts to the correct sub forum.

For example see: www.concoursmustang.com Don't get me wrong I think that is an incredibly valuable forum but it is so subdivided most posters don't know where a post should go.

Good to see 18 out of 19 have said yes, the other is undecided. Might make it easier to look up things too if they are all in one area.

I vote yes too! Especially for rank nooby's like me. I also like the idea for concours too. While my car may never quite be concours level, I am striving to make it as close to "like original" as possible and tapping into the expertise here would be a big help.:)

I definitely like the idea, but as some have said be careful of too many subcategories.

GREAT IDEA.

As a recent Tiger owner this would really help. With Tigers becoming more collectible there will be future restorations and this would be a great way to keep the Tigers on the roads. The tool posting sub-section would also be a great.

So all are good with the subcategories listed in the OP?

I think you might want to broaden and combine a couple things...

Suggestions: just thinking out loud here

Drivetrain ( instead of just trans. ) ... def. - The drivetrain of a motor vehicle is the group of components that deliver power to the driving wheels

So... that would include trans, driveshaft and diff.

I was going to say Traction control too but that's probably best under suspension... could group brakes with suspension...

Engine - I know fuel system and cooling have been a big part of our discussions but really.. it's all 'engine' related IMHO even power adders in 'mod tiger'

I'd like to hear others thoughts...

I'm assuming that a moderator would be asked/bribed/begged to move the existing threads into appropriate categories once that has been decided...and approved

Dead Wood

Clean up in old for sale sections and meetings was swept away. Logic is to leave benchmarks for fair market value at that point in time, pictures as we are caretakers and hysterical interest:)

Most of them get soft deleted so if there is an objection it can be made whole again.

Other logic is inflated post counts number of threads number of forum members could be due for a reality check.

The system also can have poll or sticky put on thread so it shows on 1st. page. This seems important so I responded here as Jim had a question. Sure I could have left a PM posted a visitor message or emailed or called him but I get some bang for the buck and a top post that I do not want guys to miss cuz its hot.

Breaking out tech sounds good.

Maybe keep it simple?
-Drivetrain and Suspension
-Body and Interior
-Racing and Autocross
-Concours

+1. This keeps everything in just 4 categories. Easy reference.
