Hello All

I am looking to buy a 260 V8 block, or entire engine if you have it. The one qualifying criteria—it MUST have a casting code of C4OE with a casting date of October 1963 (3KXX). I might also think about a September casting date (3JXX).

I know shipping might be an issue…but I can address that once I find what I am looking for. I have been scanning the internet for a while now…without success, so I thought I would just ask.

Tootech aka Rick J has a motor out of Bud's MK1a I don't know if the date falls in your range though. I posted it on Craigslist for him when his ISP was wonky at home. It's a fairly complete motor still in Anaheim at Bud's

Mkia are later casting than the 63.... He's looking for va block in the first tiger batch.

Recall

I believe I recall seeing a 63 build date on the deck. I neglected to mention that earlier.

My second car has a 63 Fairlane 289 5 bolt too bad I opened my fat mouth its the stealth upgrade ;)

I only suggested as it may be an early motor. I've read with big interest R.Fraser's engine study.

Tiger's are like a box of chocolates you never know what you gonna get, till you get it apart at least.

Difficult Yes...but Hopefully Not Impossible

DD

The C4OE casting began in July 1963. The recent information about B9470006 reveals it's original engine, from the first shipment of Ford engines to Rootes, was cast on July 8, 1963 (3G8) and assembled on Aug 14, 1963 (3H14.)

Finding a Tiger C4OE block/engine from this period is certainly a daunting task. Hopefully, there are other non-Tiger 260 blocks/engines around from that period.

I believe your numbers indicate the following.

C4OE.....engine for the 64 model year
3M1.......Casting date of Dec 1, 1963 A-Jan, B=Feb etc...Ford did not use "I")
6015B....Part Number (I believe your 8 is actually a 6)

Let me guess...the Rootes number for your engine is G13KA-XXXX. That would indicate an engine assembly date of Jan 13, 1964. See Norm Miller's website for the breakdown of this engine code.

Hope that helps.

The Facel Vega is just a few blocks from me. Let me know if you want me to go inspect it.

No Room

DD/Rootes

I appreciate the lead and offer to help but I will have to pass on that one. I barely have room in my one car garage for the engine...never-mind a whole car.

I have a complete early 260 that came from a Mk1 Tiger. It had only travelled 30K milesz. The stumbling point is shipping, I am on the other side of that big pond. :)

I just do not know of anyway to overcome the logistics/cost of shipping an engine from "down" your way.

Just curious...what was the casting and build date.

Thanks

Steven

About 6 months too late. I do not feel as bad now, knowing your engine did not meet my needs.

Thanks,
