Cad plating?

I am bringing a barn find back from the grave and in the midst of painting and plating all the little bits. It appears however that some parts were plated with what appears to be electro zinc or cadmium:
Hoot latch receiver and pin
Seat tracks
Seat hinge latches and ratchet mechanisms

Any other interior bits that should be plated?

depends on what year the car is.. the truck catch on the lid is bright zinc, the platform for the lock (that the lock is riveted to) can be either zinc, or yellow cad.

Early-mid MKI - B947 1051

Do you have a list of what needs to be zinc and/or cad plated?

The trunk parts would be zinc, yellow cad was only found on Mk2's (On the lock platform) and possibly some VERY late Mk1a's. I don't have a list per se. you have listed everything that I have done

Sean please cease and desist putting forth all the trade secrets of the pro restorers :)

Question. Are you sure that the seat mechanisms and seat tracks were plated? Every piece I have looks to be bare metal.

A word of caution. Zinc plating can cause hydrogen imbrittlement. What does that mean?
It means the hood latch spring can break, requiring a new latch or at least a new spring. At least mine did.

I took all my stuff to a plater and after waiting two months after it was not even put in the schedule, I took it all back. It wasn't going to be cheap either.
So, I plated them myself. It's pretty easy, and the materials are not toxic. There are many websites describing the process.

I just stripped mine and under the ratchet handle and rubber pads on the tracks, is clean zinc plating. I believe that Sean is correct.
My trunk latch catch was too shoddy to determine and the trunk pin, hood pin and receiver were painted long ago, and I cannot tell

From the guys I am going to see today - Hudson Plating in Vancouver

Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief

The cleaning and plating processes cause the release of hydrogen at the surface of the part. The hydrogen impregnates into the part and in the case of high strength steels can cause the part to become brittle and consequently snap in use. The likelihood of this happening is virtually eliminated if the parts are baked immediately after plating. Baking takes place at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or higher for 3 or more hours. Standard baking time is 4 hours @ 375 degrees.
Charts verifying time and temperature are available upon request.

A bucket is a lot of bits. Nuts, bolts, and washers as well?
yes, I save all of the good bolts and special fasteners and have them plated as well. A lot of the fasteners on Tigers are black phosphate, some are bright zinc. Phosphating can be done at home.. you can get Parkerizing solution from gun restoration supply places.

The washers on Brit cars have a reduced outer diameter, slightly smaller than a normal SAE washer. You can get the correct sized washers from Clarke Spares and Restorations (MGA specialist). They also stock a selection of pozidriv pan head screws in zinc which were used from about mid 1966 on, so late MK1a's and all Mk2's.

Never heard of Hydrogen embrittlement with zinc plating, I know for a fact it is a hazard of chrome plating... why new chrome wire wheels have stainless spokes!!

absolutely positive
You've got me wondering. I'll check my stock to see what is in my stash. I don't remember if I have any NOS seat parts.
