Hoping someone has an extra Tiger K&N air filter they are willing to sell FYI seems K&N has stopped making these

I was assuming stock oval Tiger air filter size, ? does that answer your question, if not I am not sure what you mean re. depth - thanks

Maybe he should have said height which determines how high the top of the air cleaner is to the hood.

Part numbers so far I have for K&N are A135A8 and E-2859. Anyone have any other K&N or other air cleaner part numbers I can start hunting for? Also FYI, thru K&N filters web site 'Contact' I asked about the E-2859, and actually did receive a call back from K&B and was told that they had changed their manufacturing and no longer make many of the older filters they used to. Translation (i.e. my guess) is they are no longer making their own filters and probably sourcing from overseas. ? anyone found something round that can be re-shaped to oval, other - very open to suggetsions and asking myself why I did not buy an extra one of these years ago. Also called Rick at SS and he is out of stock but hoping to get his supplier to make some for him soon FYI. Perfect world want another K&N so hoping someone has an extra one and willing to sell/trade - thanks in advance everyone.

Which depth?
Depth as in the height of the filter.

There were 3 filters with the same radius that worked for a Tiger and had 3 heights .. depending on your manifold/ carb/ bonnet/ motor mounts you could use slightly taller ones...

I'll try and look up the part # I had

As a side note...the K& N filters are not great at filtering..... To quote Randy "just sayin' "

Hope you can find the part number - re. K&N filtering I have not clue just assumed they were good. Understand re. height variations and that darn hood in the way thing.

Ok. From the Tigers list email I had:

From the K&N database there are the following matches. Dimensions are in
inches:

Part# ID OD Height
E-2859 11.75 13.5 1.5
E-3710 11.75 13.5 2
E-3717 11.75 13.5 2.5
E-3720 11.75 13.5 2.75
E-3723 11.75 13.5 3

The E-2859 is listed as fitting the Tiger, but the others have the same ID and
OD spec (it's how I found them). I haven't tried any of the others besides the
E-3710.
If you have a really short intake manifold, or a tall power bulge on your
hood, there are some options for better breathing...

The firsr two I looked for e-2859 and e-3710 have been discontinued by k&n.

Showing in stock at this site

Maybe it is stock on hand? Someone will have to buy it to find out and if they don't have stock, cancel the order.
That's sure happened to me often enough.

The toughauto parts web site does search thru showing inventory but on top of web site it says 'Demo store comming, no orders will be fullfilled' - it's always something. Keeep those suggestions comming - much appreciated.

As stated a little earlier.. the K&n filters aren't that good at filtering.. and their performance improvement data often came by fitting a filter to a RV or similar and removing the restricted air boxes.... For actual filtering paper is often better.

I think take the measurements
Internal OD of 11.75
External OD of 13.5
And establish the max height you can fit and search round filters that meet that spec.

I have a NoS factory AC filter element...but I'm a long way from its storage location and not really wanting to sell it.. but I think you are better off search for a round filter that meets the size requirements.. find an old auto parts store where they have a bunch of old filters and either give them the measurements or take the housing down and test fit filters

I will find a round one to squish down or something I assume - appreciate your info but for sure keep a NoS filter for a stock Tiger. Still lookng, will keep you posted, and Rick at SS was optimistic that he will be getting more made

Depending on what application a filter was engineered for determines the micron size of the filter paper. The filter specific to Tigers is probably not in production by any filter company so the available filter that fits would fit other applications but not be the correct micron size filter element which could either allow too much or too little air flow depending on what current vehicle it was designed for. The filters shown in this photo were supplied by Sunbeam with nothing to filter incoming air flow.

Bob,

You have misrepresented and mislead in regards to several things about my post and in yours.

And of course a photo of your engine bay that is also not a representative example of how Rootes supplied stock road cars.
