Cats on the Block

High Traffic Kitten

YUP: Besides the Sell Often history , the body on B3382002093LRXFE (correct tag?) seems to have history of it's own.

I'm already disappointed in the Barrett Jackson coverage. Mike Joy kept referring to the first Tiger across as a "Series 1A" and mentioned the Tiger Authentication Group, you know, TAG?! I guess I can't be too picky. At least Steve Magnante gave the Book of Norman a shout out. Car sold for $47,000 before fees.

Math

51,700 with fees, add shipping sales tax and yearly use tax and you have a 60 something dollar play toy. It's impossible to tell if someone has a finger on the scale or if it is a good car.
That's pretty funny TAG . Guess all are listed with a * or a not disclosed or the data someone reported... ;)

If you believe your phone apps we walked 8.4 miles at Barrett-Jackson yesterday, a good graduation exercise for my new knee! We tracked down all the Tigers however among a thousand other cars.

Lot 506, a Mk IA VIN # 2196 BRG with a TAC cert was outside under a tent (location T7 A16). A clean but dusty restored car with a matt black engine bay and LAT wheels which sold Wednesday for $51,7 including premium (47K bid).

Lot 766.1 was allegedly a Mk I, VIN B947 0988 (JAL 560565 matches) but it had a square corner the body with footwell vents and a soft cover for the top, IA style. It was restored, dark blue with wire wheels and a matching hardtop. Located T4 A3. Due to sell Thursday.

Lot 1097 is a nice MK II in red with all the right trim VIN 382100356. JAL 700259 Hard to find in south showcase in the horse arena S of the auction arena. This has a CAT sticker and a black hardtop. No TAC - I would have liked to look under the trunk board and under the carpet behind the passenger seat before I bid (if I was a bidder) but no owners around. Sells on Friday.

Lot 1290 is another nicely restored red Mk I VIN B9471294. It has a red hardtop, LAT hood located Tent 9 A17 It includes a copy of TBON (a $1500 value as they say). No TAC but paperwork includes an $85K appraisal. Sells on Saturday.

It would be nice if sellers got cars TAC’d and were there to answer questions or at least had phone #s to contact them.

Good walk

And report Bill thanks! Left to rely on a "Black leather cockpit surround." at Russo and Steele, leaves wide open what they can represent as real. Also looks like the one remaining Tiger without a AC housing :)

Don't know what BJ's commision is... I know when my buddy sold his Tiger a few years ago at R&S it was 5% no reserve and 10% with a reserve

Wonder how they vetted the car... ? sure is suspicious and I can't see any way that it's the same car as that VIN tag

BJ auction Fees

How they get paid. Barrett-Jackson earns their money via an 8% seller's premium charged to the seller (consignor) when their car is sold. They also collect a 10% bidder's premium from the buyer once the car sells.
VIN number and square corner body conflict. Not the first time this car has been auctioned.

2 Tigers at RM Sotheby's

and the 'crooked trim' car... B382002093LRXFE https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/az20/arizona/lots/r0066-1966-sunbeam-tiger-mk-ia/836827
I have 5 previous sales for that one!
2012 $58k Worldwide auctions
2015 $137.5k Goodings
2016 $148.5k RM Sotheby's
2017 $79k BAT
2019 $50k Russo&Steele

any guesses for this time ??

So... B382002093LXRFE went for US$86800 inc. buyers premium and B382100269LRXFE went for US$70000 inc. buyers premium

Strange

These results are not logical, but something is up with the 70K car that I don't know about.

Overall, with at least 11 Tigers in auctions over the past two weeks there were no great numbers. Mine are not for sale but it is always nice to pat yourself on the back and tell yourself how rich you are...

Look closely

That MK2 has some real nits to pick including a machine engraved ID.
I'm betting that is the tip of it's iceberg floated all the way from England to the US, then to Norway then back to the US...all without a TAC
