Listed as a survivor! New paint job, Mk1a rocker panel seams filled, VIN plate held on with screws! Door panels Mk1 not a survivor !

It often helps to post a link or item number so people know what you are looking at.. i'll assume it was this one:

The seams don't seem to be filled from what i can see, it is a it hard to tell in somepics, but they appear to be there front and back on left and right. The door trims are not MKI.. just someones homemade effort, same goes for the door top rolls re-trim.

I agree its no "survivor" the ca has seen a bit of work in its time.. also why is it pople keep painting the engine bays black?

Black

Where can I get some electrical tape like that for my steering wheel. You would figure for that kinda dough they'd do some prep and geet a better air cleaner. I
Tough to not to pig pile on a ill prepared car with salesman speak ad language and cut n paste info.

Don't forget the 80's exterior mirrors and the super stretched carb return spring.

I thought you were going to say it's because Duke can't get rid of his oil leaks:rolleyes:

I've seen pics of Duke, If i said that despite being on the other side of the globe i would expect to hear an Apache helicopter at about 2am in the morning :D

My, you are a catty bunch at times. :p

It's the wrong colour too but at least they made a good job of it. They even took the windscreen off.

Calling it a survivor is just a flag wave to get some attention.
Anyone can see it is not the case.

Are 1A boot lids and appertures supposed to look like that?

If you are referring to the soft top cover.. NO! its another home made attempt. Missing the two studs to secure the tennax fasteners for the retaining straps when the soft top is up. It is also not retained correctly under the padded roll or at the leading edges.. '

There are many things incorrect on the car, after market water temp gauge, ignition switch, lighter, shift knob, switch where choke blanking plate is, no dash lettering, has a glove box surround when it shouldn't, list cn go on...

Hey now, I am happy to report that the engine is completely leak free now. (knock on wood)

Its kinda strange but I can get used to it.

Hi Guys - new to forum.

As you made mention of some of the dash components on this particular car does anyone know what the hole to the upper left of the tach is for?

The diagrams Ive seen show the hole, but no mention of what its for.

This car shows what looks like could be some kind of light.

Mine is empty as is the case with a few other people Ive spoken with.

Anyone know?

Thanks

Chris

Welcome!

The hole is for the optional AMP meter. I do not recommend a AMP meter due to the large gauge non fused wires that must feed it. A volt meter is much safer.

It's just a hole with a shiny cover.
I don't think it does anything.

The hole I was talking about is small and above the Amp Meter gauge-

Duke I dont see it on your picture. Here's a pic of it:

Figure since Im redoing it would make sense to find out what goes there, otherwise just cover over it when I reveneer.

As Im going to change out the tach and speedo I kind of like the notion
of nothing going there :)

Stick an extra light in it.
People will be scratching their heads for years trying to figure out what it does.

Alpine GT dash has that hole.
I believe it might be for the overdrive "tell tale".
