Super frustrating. So. What’s are the tricks needed for removal from the stock remote location?

Pic attached showing vise grip on top of filter. I can’t get it to budge. The holding bracket had been loosened but not enough play in the lines to allow me to lift the filter out of area. Also if I tilt, I’m risking rad hose into fan blades. Not enough room to get filter cup wrench underneath, but I’m about to try and force it. The fittings on top don’t want to give me other options. The larger nut needs channellock size, no room. The smaller allows access but I can’t seem to turn it either direction using a lot of force. I may have bent the U fitting slightly with my force.

Loosened overflow tank and moved aside to allow greater access. Still no joy.

Get a filter wrench.... Loosen the pipe to housing to prevent it from twisting if the filter is stuck. Hold the top of the housing and. Use rhe wrench..

Stubborn. But

I dare say the thing I’m using with teeth into the side walls doesn’t have an issue with grip. I also have a strap wrench (rubber) that was no go. I’ll go buy one of those you depict but I’m doubting it will grip any better. The issue is leverage and maybe the fitting on top. As you said, loosen the “pipe to housing” but again... can’t loosen either piece on top thus far. I’m fairly certain it’s stripped or close to stripping in there (no I did not install.. sigh). I’ll take more pics tomorrow to explain. Quitting. Again...

I can remember getting mad an shanking a filter but not on a Tiger.
Like a lot of things it may be it'll take a third hand. When we were talking I was on the Interstate and il default to the what I said, "That's why mine is in a box." I can't recall anyone commenting positively about them.

Hold the large hex nut and loosen the pipe union 1/2 turn, preferably with a pipe fitting type ring spanner. Then hold the large hex and loosen the oil filter or vice versa.

When refitting smear the new filter seal with some oil/grease and tighten no more than 1/3 of a turn after contact. They are awkward due to the lack of space but difficulties in removal are usually due to over tightening in the past...

Is the ticket and attached are what he uses . Just bought a big wrench looks to be a full 1/8 to 3/16 too big.
Also pictured a VW rear axle nut remover.
Now to get me a 36 mm combo wrench to make like the pictures one of my really Handy pal. Possibly there's some variation in the oil line fittings.

On my survey of two it's smaller.
No idea what one came off of .
The pictured cut off wrench is 1 7/16. As always your results may vary. I'd hoped to cut up a cheaper tool . In this case a $17.46 Amazon is really sloppy on both my remotes.

Fits perfectly on two different sets of hoses. One presumably is original to a late car #173. I was wondering if trimming the clamp on the cage to hold the filter from turning while doing the install would be helpful. Attached is a picture of a loose modded one that allows the filter to be loosely contained.
