MK II only has an in line resistor for the idiot light circuit next to the 6RA relay.
What is the source, Rootes/Lucas or Ford . Who has them, and what are the resistance specs? Nothing in the shop manuals. Inquiring minds have a need . . . . . .

Know your color codes / Electronics 101

Resistance spec are easy to achieve > Apply a power source to one side
( They do have resistor testers ) , note its value , then record how much drop on the other side . Its just a resistor , NOT A DIODE , so power of test can be implied to either side . Plus ....... resistor values are marked on each in color code per them stripes .;) If Radio Shack is still in business , or other suppliers of electronic components would have these , and set you up .

It's a ceramic resistor with no colour coding. It is open and not testable. :(

My red Mk ll also had a bad resistor. I bought a 15 ohm (5 amp) ceramic enclosed resistor from an electronic supply store. I simply added a spade connector on each end and tucked the whole thing under the relay. I believe Rick McLeod gave me the ohm value. Gary Haslip

I think it's actually closer to 1.5. ohm ... If you search for Lucas 47222 you'll find a few for sale. The 'new' style have threaded studs and are cheaper but there are a few nos originals around for more $$ if you are in the 'perfect concours original' mode. I think they were used on quite a few vehicles 'back in the day' ... my '66 HIllman Minx has the exact same part on it.

OOPS!! I think I'm on the wrong track here... the resistor I've pictured is the ballast resistor for the coil.... looking at the MKII wiring diagram, there is also one for the warning light! I have NO idea what that one looks like :(

Lucas.

Determined the Lucas Part # A47195. Anyone have a source for one/two?

Gary Haslip,
Wow, I just had a major flashback. I remember you from way, way, back. I lived in Salem from 68-92. I had a red MK II late 70's thru early 80's.
Didn't you own a baby blue Tiger? I may be mixing your car up with someone else but I do remember your name.

No, I have never owned a light blue Tiger, although my first Tiger a green Mk lA that I sold to Steve Pellegrin was later painted Med Blue. I now have four Tigers. My longest owned (1977) car is my white (was Moonstone) Mk l (#1410) with red interior, a personalized car and former Lord Rootes winner. The next is my red Mk ll (#117) that I also bought in 1977. It, too, has won L.R. I have sold that car two times and luckily have had it back this time since 2005. While that car was gone, I bought a pretty stock green Mk ll (#345) in 2001. It patiently awaits a high quality restoration but is presentable, mostly, as is. The latest aquisition is another Mk lA (#2696) in Commodore Blue withg Azure Blue interior, a VERY rare, very late stock Mk lA, built 17 days before my red Mk ll. I bought this car this winter after selling a yellow Mk lA(#2515) also a Commodore Blue Code car that I had since 2008.
Just the other day, I was trying to recall the name of the fellow from Salem that owned a Med Blue Tiger AND a small block Cobra (YEARS ago) Rod Laver, maybe? I thougght I also recognized your name, Paul. Also Hello, Bob H!!
I just looked a saw the resistor I used is a 10 watt 15 ohm unit, finally getting back to the original question in this thread. Sorry for the Hi-jack! Gary Haslip

OK, it's the white car with red interior that I remember. I think I have pictures of it from Santa Maria?
Yes, remember the guy from Salem with the Med Blue, I was mixing you up with him. Anyway, nice to see you are still super active.

It's around 18.5 ohms resistance
and it's only MK 2. If you want to get it rebuilt that is possible too . I have an extra one too.

Just find out been running number 2 near the isolating relay , and number one
( wich his 1.35 ohms on my car) Been running for 65,000 miles !!!!!
What is the incidence or the effect !!!!!

Thanks

Gilles
