Is there any other way besides reputation to judge a car shipper? I have been recommended 2 shippers by a fellow Tiger owner and their quotes were different by $700 with the lesser quote because of the size of the Tiger compared to larger vehicles. Does anyone know the current rate for inop shipment; is it $1/mile or less or more? Also one dropped out as soon as I started emailing with more details about dropoff/contract/insurance/etc. Maybe I was asking too many questions or they would rather talk on the phone.
I was trying to check with the BBB from their respective states and I believe that they will only be in the system if there is a claim/grievance on them. Also when looking for reviews the only ones that are in the databases that I've googled are the shippers that registered on those sites. I would guess that the good shippers don't use these review sites and again rely on their reputation.
I have finally made room in my garage and am ready to ship my inop Tiger cross country from CA to DC, which is probably a different circumstance for most of you guys out there, who seem to be fine tuning your Tigers. But some have to start somewhere.
I just want to make sure that my car/parts get to me since this is my "dream car". I am sorta a pessimist as you will remember me as the guy who purchased a hardtop just to keep all the spare parts within the car for shipment. I seem to recall a thread about someone shipping a car and then asking if someone knew of a Tiger in the same trailer, so I know that there are good shippers out there.
