They are still out there

I had my Tiger at the NSRA show in Sacramento and was surprised at how many people came up to me and said they have had or know where Tigers are. One man said he is trying to buy a MK2 complete with floor rust for $7k, another a complete car for under $20k. So don't give up---there are still Tigers hiding out there.

It's amazing what people say at car shows....seemed like every time
I fueled up with the Cobra everyone at the station had one or sold one
at one time.....
Duke...I am installing a Mocal oil cooler with mocal thermostat in my tiger
and the plan is to put the cooler in the lower part of the valance like they did
on the Holywood 55 car...pm me for details....

Very sharp and crisp lines. Side trim straight as an arrow. I like it!

What kind of steering wheel?

Is that a MGB oil cooler? How did you run the lines?

Sweet Tiger BTW.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but...

Duke... Here's a couple of pics of my oil cooler complete with thermostat as it looked when I first bought the car ( filter is in the wheel well )... I since replaced it with an identical one and it's shrouded a bit by my power steering cooler...
The oil coolers are available anywhere and come in about 3 or 4 different heights... the thermostat is this one...

Jim,

That's kind of the idea and by the way did they mount your radiator in the trunk ???:D In the center of the valance you have a bracket that cuts air flow
so mounting it between the bracket and the frame rail moves it over and in the air stream a bit better. Mocal also makes a sandwich thermostat that goes between the remote oil filter block and the engine block that would allow
either a stock filter ( which is too small Duke!!!) or an after market that can handle AN10 oil lines. A mocal 50 rail 115 matrix oil cooler should fit just fine
or Setrap has one the same size and they hold about 3/4 of a quart which should be adequate given the 8 qt pans we are running....

There were lots of things missing on my car but the rad WAS there lol! I knew that the first thing I had to do when I bought the car was replace the fan shroud...so I took the rad out too... :p it was quite the piece of work !

Thanks--I took a long time to make sure the trim was straight. The steering wheel is the stock one with a thick cover over it--makes quite a difference.
As far as the oil cooler it was purchased from TuningDepot and the lines come off the top of the cooler and go through the horn hole on the drivers side of the car.

Power Steering???

Jim,

"... I since replaced it with an identical one and it's shrouded a bit by my power steering cooler..."

Do you really have power steering?

Gary

OK, I'll be that guy....................why?

Short answer: It seemed like a good idea at the time... and continues to work great!

The Tiger boys across the pond have a much simpler system available now and several have installed this EPAS system which is totally 'stealth' and even retains the telescoping wheel!!

Bruce: Sorry for completly hijacking your thread !! BTW, your car is sweeeeeeeeet !!

I suspect

It would be cause it is a freaking bear to parallel park a Tiger, and who wants to curb their rims? I avoid complex parking moves all together whenever possible.

I like the Tiger a lot but it drives and parks worse then an old Ford designed for bias belted tires with fat radials on it, oh wait it kinda is an old Ford, but they were/are easier to park.

Oh and back OT a guy came up to several of us Tiger tamers to tell us of his inherited Kitty soon to come out of hiding,. we had 6 or 8 Tigers at the Senior show in Palos Verdes Ca. with special guests from the Shelby club. Dave our CAT editor? was there camera in hand way better than my phone pics.

Damn....I have never driven a stock Tiger with an all original front end with that big huge garbage truck style steering wheel as my Tiger had been modified with the Mg midget rack and tie rod arms with a nice Nardi steering wheel when I bought it. It was total crap to drive and the turning radius was about three blocks long. So I can understand why power steering would be wonderful. During the course of discovery with my Tiger we found that the front cross member had been bent way beyond any repairs so I made the decision to scrap the whole works and bought Dales front end. If you want your Tiger to be a pleasure to drive with a nice tight turning radius with little effort you owe it to yourself to do the same.....It is worth the money

Classic Motorsport - Tiger Oil Cooler

sorry for continuing off topic! but if i recall correctly, Classic Motorsport also utilized a Mocal oil cooler setup on their tiger restoration. they gave full details including parts and supply/contact numbers. Moondoggie...is this the same setup as you are referring to?

Damm X2

When I have smaller and less money pits I would like to change the steering.
I was thinking the steering wheel is more like a school bus or more like my old high school International step van, or one of my many VW vans. Matter of fact every car I have ever owned or thought about owning, except a 65 Ford Ranchero that started life as a 6 cyl car that was badly converted to a 289 car while retaining the 6 cyl front end drove better in a parking lot

Now back OT,

A neighbor has a early Jag E type and a Tiger that is still out there, I offered to do him a favor and let him drive my car so he could feel the brutality of the car and decide if it was up his alley.

Nice pitch huh, "you have a refined motor car" drive mine and see which car you like better. Maybe you should drive one and see if you can get used to it? You sure could fix up the Jag your Sprite and your VW Westie with the dough you'd get from me.

Still waiting on his reply....

Nice, Duke, Ha Ha... the pics of the weights fitness is not one of my weak points. Parking the Tiger anywhere in So. CA is a invite to a over ridden bumper, especially where parallel parking is un avoidable. I just would not drive down to my Tiger pal's home on Balboa Island,or the yacht club where you have to leave the keys in the ignition as it a parking bummer.

I enjoy my car as found running about the Palos Verdes peninsula up towards Marina Del Rey, cars and coffee in Irvine, Maybe Donut Derilicts in Huntington Beach, and will wait a good while before I open the restoration can o worms then I will call Dale.

I have seen the article and what they did was use a Mocal kit for a cobra
and adapted it to the Tiger. They put the cooler right in front of the radiator
and mounted the remote oil filter block on the firewall where a power booster
is fitted with power brakes. This makes the oil lines very long which is not good for oil pressure. My plan is to mount the cooler in the lower valance on the drivers side away from the radiator air flow and use a Mocal sandwich thermostat between the block and remote filter adapter. There is room for both
in my installation. Now the oil lines are short and simple going thru the horn hole to the cooler and straight up to the remote filter monted in the stock location but using a modern filter block and AN 10 oil lines.
