Love the color combo......my wife's beater back in the day was white with the same red stripes.

Well it has attitude for sure!! I bought it off ebay and think I got a good deal. I was worried the flares would be too much but it looks really great in person. The workmanship is beautiful. The car in my opinion looks like it might have if Shelby had modified it, kind of like what he did with original cobra when he added the bigger tires and engine (flared fenders and this one has the Shelby Cobra hood scoop attached with the stainless steel rivets like on the Cobra).

The cut out of the heater/cowling was to facilitate the high lift aluminum heads and valve covers on the 302 that was stroked to a 347. I have a 65 green one in original condition w. panasports, headers etc that has been in storage since 82 and will be my concourse car after restoration. The cut out was done well and reinforce and I have not detected any adverse effects on body rigidity etc.

This highly modified red tiger will be more of a resto mod after being civilized by me with all the parts from my 66 Tiger totaled in 76, including convertible top frame and top, dash and gauges, seats, gas tanks (to replace the racing fuel cell) etc, etc. I may need electric power steering since the big tires on the are a bear to steer at slow speed. I do need the convertible top storage metal covers (center panel and two side wings) for a MkI and also the gas tank pipe that connects the two fender tanks.

I thoroughly inspected the car and am certain it was born a Tiger and is not a converted Alpine. I hope to have the car authenticated at some point. Wish me luck and if you have my need parts please let me know. Greg

Yes they have some of that look and perhaps that is what the builder modeled them after. but I have pictures of how he made the flares and they hand made by first cutting a line just below and parallel to the chrome strip and then expanding the fender out and then custom making the rest. It is a very clean construct with very little bondo. All I know is the car gets alot of attention. Can't pump gas without a bunch people asking questions. Greg
 
Congrats--very cool. I had talked to the owner several times about this car, sounds like a solid piece. Have fun with it. Where are you located?

I have a 347 with roller rockers, AFR 185 heads with stock chrome valve covers and no firewall modifications. I can R&R the covers just like on a 260 too.

If that is indeed the reason the cut up the firewall, its a shame.

Yes I wish he had not done it, since now the heater is gone. But, now it is way easier to work on in some respects and it gives a nice flat vertical place to mount other stuff like a coil etc. The cut probable kept people from bidding among other things. I am very happy with what I got for what I paid. The body work is beautiful. I plan on adding something from perhaps vintage air to provide ac/heat if possible. Stay tuned. Greg
 
Is that engine compartment sprayed with some kind of bed liner/undercoating? I kind of like that idea for a different project I'm working on...
